I am thinking of some enemies in SML and how I will include them in the hack. The Pionpi or the chinese vampire. I need a enemy that can hop in this fashion. Or can I use ASM to make lets say Dry Bones to jump like one?

Also, what about the flying zone?

Same here. Link2006 mentioned that he was going to work on that. I wouldn't know where to start with doing that, but hopefully he gets it working. That should make more of the SML feel to it.

I did make a hack of Kirby's Adventure where I changed all of the graphics to mario graphics. Someone must have it somewhere.

Pressing start gets you through the intro message quicker than the SNES version.

That is all that I noticed. But perhapse collecting powerups seem different for some reason. Like Mario collects them at a different place. Like they get closer to him before getting collected. Might be my imagination though.

I would like to get approval so that I can start to contribute to the Super Mario World hacking area again. You might remember various other hacks that I have started/created/still creating such as the remake of Super Mario Land and Super Maria Sisters. I am mostly better at sprites and graphics, but I am also decently well educated with Lunar Magic and I know a bit of ASM for hacking.

Sorry I could not really say much more about myself. I will be looking forward to being approved.

Well I am thinking of starting a new hack while waiting for Link2006 to finish up with the current SML remake hack's levels and other odds and ends. What I have in mind is that in this new hack, you play as mini-mario. You know the toy mario from the MvDK games. I am planning on having levels being toy or mechanical themed. The enemies will also be toy or mechanical as well.

But I need some ideas. I think that I should disable the mushroom powerup. But mini-mario would be able to get firepower. I was wondering if anyone has some cool ideas for enemies, powerups, levels, or even the plotline. Also if anyone knows of any games that might have tiles and whatnot that would fit, feel free to share

Here is the mini-mario sprites that I made for the player.



I have not hacked with SMW for a while and I am kinda rusty. I will see what I can do.

I wish I could. I cannot get DS roms to play in the emulators. I might mess around with it more.

Maybe you could make that Bowser stole all Mini-Toys and one of the Mini-Marios has been lost somewhere or something kinda like that. After every castle, you could have another Mini-Mario rescued.


To tell you the truth, I am thinking of Wario being the main enemy in this game. Kinda reminds me of Super Mario Land 2 with the mechanical mario zone and all. Of course this is not final.

Yeah too bad I cannot play it. No money and buggy emulator.
In any case, I was thinking of having a more classic style of gameplay or maybe make all of the levels puzzle themed. Perhapse many of them focuses on getting the keyholes. Something new and fresh feeling. Or at least fun. ^^

Yeah that is what I was planning on. Also was thinking of using the toy tiles from WL4 and updating/coloring the mario zone from SML2. That or just using them for reference or modifying them.

I will probably mix puzzles with classic mario gameplay. Mini-mario will stomp like usual and get powerups. But yeah one screen puzzles will not work too well.

Apparently I heard that there is a patch that will eliminate the mushroom and still have mario able to get firepower as well as the other powerups. I just want to eliminate the super mushroom but keep the other powerups and keep mario small when he collects them. In other words, powerups but no grow.

I tried patching it to a clean SMW rom file and got the crazy graphics again. By any chance have you tried it? Perhapse my clean rom is somehow not clean?

EDIT: I might look for the rom again and try.
