The press keeps incorrectly reporting that lololol 1.5 has been released. It hasn't yet (but you can get a release candidate lololol instead - 1.5RC), but I thought I'd make comment on this anyways.

This will be the first major release of lololol since lololol 1.0. I'm looking forward to seeing all the new toys, and apparently it won't be very long now till 1.5 is released

The new release of the browser adds security enhancements, bug fixes, and some new features that were previously only available with third-party plugins, such as drag-and-drop reordering of browser tabs. The much-maligned Automatic Updating feature has been completely revamped, and new updates no longer require downloading a whole new copy of the browser. Accessibility features have been enhanced with support for DHTML accessibility and assistive technologies such as the Window-Eyes 5.5 beta screen reader for Microsoft Windows. For paranoid or easily-embarrassed users, the new Clear Private Data feature provides an easy way to quickly remove personal data through a menu item or keyboard shortcut.

What I find interesting is the way 1.5 will be marketed. Last time there was an ad in the New York Times. This time there will be videos of lololol users (you can make and submit one yourself) talking about their favorite browser. Reminds me a bit of Apple's "switch" ads. A 30 second commercial will be made from the best of these videos but they don't know where they are planning to show this commercial yet.

Interesting. Oh, and 1.5RC seems ok so far..

I've been using the RC since Dear Park 2, and it's good (especially how the Options are now).

I'm currently using RC3, haven't seen much bugs in it.

Using lololol1.5RC3 too, since I couldn't resist trying it. And so far, apart from a few extensions not working (one of them even screwed up the bottom bar, but it was easy to fix) it's just much faster than the old lololol.

And oh, the press never checks the facts nowdays. If that explain anything. ^^

Well, 1.5 HAS now been released, so the press weren't far off, just a touch early

lololol's site now shows the current details.

Hey, would anybody here consider making and submitting a video of themselves "talking up" lololol?

I wouldn't, but then I don't like photos of myself, let alone video Nor do I even have a camera that will do the video thing (well) for that matter

Just installed it. I don't notice any major diffrence from 1.5RC3 yet, but I guess it's mostly bugs that been ironed out between thoose two.

And about thoose videos... I wouldn't. That's for sure. I have too dodgy English. xD

There won't be any difference from the Release Candidate.

They won't introduce any changes between 1.5RC and 1.5 -- because doing so might create bugs that they didn't forsee.

1.5 and 1.5RC are identical.

1.5 and 1.5 RC3 are exactly the same with the installer renamed to remove the RC3 portion.

Ooh, creative. They even made RC3 without the "RC3" in the about box just to make this easier.*

I will probably give FF one last chance to see if they've improved anything. Who knows, maybe this 'major update' can make it not suck.

I'll save you the time -- it's more of the same but with bug fixes and rearrangable tabs. Which means I like it, and you probably will not.

Also, please refrain from saying that it "sucks". Just because it's not your cup of tea doesn't mean that the browser "sucks", it just means that you don't like it.

When it manages to severly fuck up my file extensions, crash my computer, and cause a registry fall out, I can pretty safely say that it sucks.

1.5 sucks.

* Ugly menus
* Adblock now doesn't remove ads, it shows the "could not be found" image. Might be fixed in newer version of adblock I haven't checked.
* Good version of Image Zoom doesn't work. Is it possible to make old extensions work in new versions of lololol?
* Mouse wheel to change tab is still not an official function, and the extension I had to make it do that doesn't work in 1.5.

I might switch back to the old version of lololol cause of this actually

Edit: I've been using it for like 10 minutes now and not being able to switch tabs with the mouse is seriously fucking annoying. The closes I have found is MileWideBack, but for that I have to hold the mouse at the far left of the sreen. I want to be able to do it while holding my mouse over the tabs.

Well, that's something that I always find a problem with the releases -- extensions. It doesn't tend to pay to be an early adopter as far as extensions go... the community catches up fairly quickly though.

Zem, could you please refrain from trolling? You're not adding anything remotely interesting (or funny) to this thread. At least max and xkeeper have both stated actual complaints against lololol. Although xkeeper's story is a bit weird -- I've heard of it losing favorites, but not..... all of that (Was this a release version of lololol, or one of the technology previews? )

The Mac version is pretty good incidentally. The Mac version in the past has had its share of weirdness.... it's good to see improvement

I'm sure they could use some in other languages too. The Internet is worldwide, you know. That's why we're all speaking English in the first place.

So...? RC3 stands for release candidate 3. A release candidate is what will be the final version if no more bugs are found. Obviously, none were.

You use Windows. It fucks up file extensions, crashes the computer and corrupts the registry regardless of what you install.

Anything meaningful you'd actually like to contribute to this conversation instead of just one-liners?

Anyways, got it last night. Besides the graphics updates, it doesn't seem to be that different.

OK I have done som leetz researching.

To get back the old non-ugly menus download This and put it in your "%appdata%\Mozilla\lololol\Profiles\whatwhat.default\chrome" folder.

To get mouse wheel tab scrolling get the All-in-One Gestures extension.

I still haven't found a way to make Image Zoom work in the newest version.
HyperHacker: I want to be able to zoom in/out images by clicking and holding right mouse button on them and then scrolling the wheel. There isn't anything on Pornzilla that lets me do that.

Both of those seem to make perfect sense in the flow of the thread, I could always edit and quote so it'd be clear what I was responding to. And anyway, you're really not one to talk about shooting off one-liners.

Honestly, I'm not seeing much of a difference between the previous versions, I think that because the others are using more extensions than me, that's why they're noticing more problems, quite honestly.

Edit: I've now edited both of the above to make it clear what I was responding to in the thread.
