It'll be okay, Danielle. We're all here for you... You're not there any more. Someday, it'll all be nothing in your mind. Until then, be strong. We believe in you. You have enough strength to get over this.
...Err... Look! A distraction! *scurries off* |

The funny thing is: I've been going all emo lately. And I've realised something: Emo's aren't sad because they have a "whole bunch of emotional problems happening in their lives" the whole getting into that spiral of depression starts when you realize "HOLY ****! I'M EMO!!!". That! That is what depresses crazy emo kids. That is what makes people listen to Thursday, Death Cab For Cutie, The Postal Service, and Linkin Park. It's not the problems. It's just the realization that you're emo that makes you emo.

Originally posted by Nebetsu There is nothing wrong with Thursday or Death Cab For Cutie. Don't care about the other two There is nothing wrong with liking a particular style of music either. There IS something wrong if you think that you have to behave, act or dress a certain way because of it. And I completely disagree with this constant relation between a music style and a depressive state. Emo is 'emotional music" but that doesn't mean it's okay to say that all emo fans are overly "emotional". And getting upset over being "emo" is stupid too. Just be your fucking selves and stop putting immature labels on people, particularly based off a music style. The word "emo" seems to have replaced what the word "angst" meant when I was in school (edited by Tarale on 05-02-06 02:58 AM) |

Yeah, slang does tend to evolve weirdly, I'll give you that. The basic meaning is the same, though, so why even mention it? Perhaps I'm just not getting it because I'm... So tired... I should go to sleep...

Originally posted by Alastor the Stylish Course, I'm probably pissy about it cause I'm tired But yeah "I'm so emo cause I'm emo" is possibly one of the dumbest things I think I've heard anybody say.... outside of high school. |

If I knew someone who was cutting himself, but had a bit of humour I probably would send that Maddox page. Other than that, it's a serious matter and the person need help. :/
Then, I think the whole "Emo" thing as a cultural thing is just... dumb. A whole culture around being depressed? (edited by Ailure on 05-02-06 05:29 AM) |

Originally posted by Ailure The Grunge scene had a lot of depression themes too, when I was in High School. And then there was the Goth scene when I left school... I don't know what it was before I started high school... Can't speak for everyone, but I'd say a lot of kids would feel drawn to depressing, emotional material at a certain age. And then other kids join in cause it's a "scene" or whatever. |

I'd blame hormones. Seems like a good reason to me.
Of course, realizing "Hey, I'm probably acting depressed for attention" is one of those things that'll REALLY mess with your mood. Makes you feel rather... bad about yourself. |
