I am having a big problem with d4's HDMA kit
I took the HDMA kit and I applied it to a clean smw rom and I put in 2 watery effects in level 105 and 104. I loaded the rom and only the new splash screen came up but nothing else, I tried changing the rom address 0x200 to 40--> to 0 just like small hacker had a stated in a old thread, but that doesn't seem to help any idea of what might be the problem ?

I asked hyper mackeral about this first to see if he could get it to work but he said he had a no go with the blasted thing......

1. What is 'HDMA kit'?
2. What does it do?
3. What are you trying to do with it that isn't working?
4. I'll try to help you if I can

The HDMA kit is a hack released by d4s that makes it easy to add HDMA effects to a level. When I tried it the game wouldn't start, sounds like he has the same problem.

BTW the readme says it changes the intro. What exactly does it change? Still the same old Nintendo logo/coin sound followed by the SMW title screen? I like a lot of the changes but I don't want someone else's intro screen.

the change make the BG white and put the Nintendo logo(the one with a red circle around it), the original intro with the Nintendo present have been totally deleted

Yeah. Which, in my opinion, is extremely stupid. You can only add your insignia in the credits and on the title screen. And putting a huge blatant Nintendo logo in a ROM Hack that is that didn't have said huge blatant logo before...well...it's rather silly, don't you agree?

Speaking of HDMA, I tried to use LevelASM to have HDMA before, but it didn't work. I am 1000% sure I got the coding correct. Although I found an alternative method, I'd sure like to know what was wrong.

yep, he could have made a giant sign that say 'SPECIAL THANK TO D4S FOR THE HDMA EFFECT' to force people to give him credit

well here is what I did

1.Find and Download a copy of Super Mario World (U).smc
2.applied patch to it, it jumped from 512kb to 1024kb
3. Put in 2 watery effects in levels 103,105
4. I test the rom, splash screen comes up with some damn symbles at start up zsnes also said the checksum failed.
5. closed zsnes.
6.Opened up a hex editor went to address 0x200 the first byte was at 40 changed it back to 00 I saved the rom
7. looked at the file size and not a damn thing changed......
8.Tested the rom one more time to see if something changed..... hell no!

I said screw it and gave up and posted this thread topic last night.

you need to delete the header before applying the patch

Just downloaded the HDMA kit. I haven't started using it, but maybe try playing it in Snes 9x (It might work. For instance, you can't play SMW in Zsnes if you expand it in LM [to 8MB exlowrom thing].)
