A program like snestool can do that job for you. Simply open the program select your ROM, and choose the "Add Header" option. Either that, or open the ROM in your hex editor of choice, and add 512 zeores right at the beginning. At least I think that's what you have to do. It's been a while since I did anything even remotely related to romhacking, so my memory's a bit rusty ![]() Anyways, as for the hack, the screenshots look pretty nice, although they make me wonder whether this game is going to be another one that could fall into the "hard to very hard" category ![]() ![]() |

Originally posted by Karadur I think I did something wrong... I did download the program you suggested I use. I put the clean ROM in the same folder so the program would find it. I then went to Add Header, and it then asked me to pick the ROM. I selected the ROM, and it then asked me if I wanted to delete the Header. I said YES, and the next question about Hirom file (?) which I also said YES to (I have no idea what that does) and then I answered YES to Disable Static Ram (?!) (Once again, I have no idea what that does). It then says that the header has been added, and I then ESC'd out. However, after applying the IPS patch to the edited ROM, nothing happens. Just a blank screen. Sigh >.>; |

I can't help but feel I'm just making things more difficult with this, but here's a way to do things manually. First of all, open your Super Mario World ROM in whatever hex editor you use. I'm using Translhextion right now, so things might look a bit different for you. Right at the top, you should see something that looks like what's highlighted in yellow in this picture. Your ROM needs to have that at the top. If you need to add that, make sure you're not overwriting what's already there ![]() Note that the ROM I had open in that picture was completely unmodified, and the filename was "Super Mario World (U) [!].smc". It already had a header, as you can see, and the patch worked perfectly ![]() |

Hey, thanks for sending me the link to the ROM.
I applied the IPS patch to it, and it worked just fine! Now I can finally play it. Thank you so much! ![]() |
