I had to get rid of my DS, because I've got 15,000 bills coming at me all at once, and a date on Saturday; I needed the money, and I didn't get hardly anything for my DS, 3 newer DS games, and 3 really good GC games.... I got 107$ for them... But it was to be expected, considering they have to make a profit, so I did it anyway; the date is THAT important...

LOL! Have you guys ever had to do this???

Nope. Never plan on it either. Especially not at a video game store. We rip people off. A guy actually just came in and traded in a bunch of nice games, including FF 7, 8, Tactics and Suikoden 1, 3, 4, and Tactics.

I sold my old NES to help pay for a SNES, but I had another NES, so I didn't mind. (The reason I had two consoles was so I could keep one at each parent's house.) My mom got rid of my old Atari consoles and games at some point. Other than that, I still have every game I've ever bought. I like to hold onto games because I never know when I or a friend might want to play them in the future. They don't take up too much room, and if Randy and I needed money, we would rather cut back on other expenses (like cooking more food from scratch and buying less convenience food) than get rid of media that we might never be able to replace.

I do want to get rid of the PS2 Spyro game, though, because it's a buggy piece of crap and I never want to play it again, so it's dead meat on my game shelf.

I stopped playing video games. I've sold most of my games.

Meh.

Why would I sell games to make a small amount of money? I mean, even if you have bills to pay, selling games to pay for a DATE... I dunno about that.

I rarely trade/sell in games.

Last instance was when I sold my GTA: San Andreas copy to a friend because I was bored of the game.

I really can't remember what I did with the money.

Being with a girl you really like is way more important than any vidoe game, seriously. It was a rare opportunity for this specific date, and so I did what was needed...

Never, and I hope I never have to. There are a couple games I could do without, mostly because they're basically taking up space (Polarium is one that comes to mind), but otherwise, I'd try to find another way to get the money. However, that's only if I desperately need the money.

If I was in your position where I needed the money for date, I'd likely look around and ask friends or family if they needed any jobs done, and if they said yes, see about possibly getting paid for doing whatever is needed of me. Barring that, I'd just tell whoever I was going to go on a date with that plans have changed, due to not having the funds necessary. There's a good chance they'll argue, but I can see at least 1 person out of every three saying there wasn't a problem, and then working out a new time and date.

I'm have a feeling that if you told whoever you're going on a date with about the bills you're facing, they'd be at least a bit sympathetic, but it's a bit too late for that now

In one sentence though, I never sell or trade games, and don't plan on doing so unless there's no other way to work things out.

In that case, I really hope it works out for you because you just made an unnecessary sacrifice if it doesn't.

Yep.

Not to be pessimistic but if this date is a failure, it is going to suck ten times more than usual.

Like a friend of mine. He loved his PS2. It was his only way of escaping his life.

He sold it to buy a cellular phone that uses pre-paid cards so he could talk to his girlfriend.

Guess what. They broke up. He also realized he didn't have money to keep buying the minute cards and his most important source of entertainment is gone.

My question is, why did he buy games and systems and let himself get enough into debt to have these bills fly at him in the first place?

I already had these games for a while, but.... I was layed off.... and now I get unemployment checks, but they're not enough, so I had to sell that stuff for that reason, being layed off and all...

No, but the fact of the matter is that you people actively choose to go to those places to trade in games, the chop shops of the gaming industry. I sold mine by bundling them up and putting them out for auction. In some cases I made a profit on the games (I bought MGS2: Substance for 15 bucks and Halo for 20 - they sold for 50 together).

If gamers weren't a bunch of saps that have no spine when it comes to these things they'd have done what other hobbyists sometimes do and made their own networks for trading and selling their games.

Auctioning huh? never thought of that...

I wonder if I could be successful doing it...

The games were...

Mario Party 7
The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition
Mario Kart: Double Dash

The DS Games:

The DS itself
Mario Kart DS
Metroid Prime Hunters
Super Mario 64 DS

...yeah I got ripped off bad for $107.00

You sure did.

But that is the way it works. I knew someone who bought a YuGiOh game. Brand spanking new. Returned it one week later. It's value was at $12. Big difference from the $45 he paid initially.

Also I would love to come across someone who was selling all of that for $107.00

I would hug them, then after I paid them, laugh while driving away.

It depends on the location and demand. I saw a used Valkyrie Profile for the PSOne for about 300 Euros on Ebay, someone I know got a new (!) VP for about twenty bucks when he was in Japan. That example is pure insane, but I know that game sells for a lot of money, at least here in Europe where it was never released.
It sure is in Japanese, but it was a fresh and sealed copy.
EDIT: Again. I wonder who will buy this for that price

I bought my Final Fantasy VII (unfortunately the German Platinum version which is translated horribly anyway) for 6 Euros in a store where I lived before (it was near the border of Berlin); recently I saw a store which sold FF7 for 30 bucks, for the same version.
The shop was situated in the center of Berlin where a lot of people live.
As for new games, I don't know. I have to learn a lot in university, so it is a long time I ever bought a new console/game ... I'm happy with my few ROMs and older stuff.

First let's cover what's called "supplication". Remember that word. Supplication is when you lower your value in exchange for her approval. For example, putting her on a pedestal, giving her generic compliments, spending money on crap, doing stuff for her, etc. Anything that is approval seeking is supplication and you're going to look like a pussy because of it.

How do you go not supplicating? Always make sure you have higher value then her. Do this by not seeking approval. You don't need her or anything she has to offer. Anything she can give you or offer you can do for yourself (except a blowjob that is). You need her for NOTHING. Look at it like this: would you spend money or give compliments or any shit like that if she were a guy? Sounds stupid, right? What if she were a fat ugly girl? Well, pretend she is.

I'm already getting too far ahead of myself - let's jump to something else for a little bit. How about...what women are attracted to...

Simply put, women are attracted to men. Real men. Alpha males. These guys are:

Calm and relaxed

Comfortable in all situations

Not emotional. Don't let things get to you. Don't have outbursts.

Leading - don't be afraid to take control.

Positive. Avoid negativity. Don't be afraid to smile. If you're negative then you're the guy that's bringing her down...

Live in their own reality - alpha males know that the world doesn't control you, but rather it's YOUR PERCEPTION of the events in your world. Control your perception and you control your reality.

Don't tolerate second class behavior. You expect to be treated good. If you aren't treated good then make it known that you won't tolerate it but do so in a calm, cool manner. Remember, you aren't emotionally effected by other's behavior...

Alpha males are also selective. Picky. We know what we want and we go for it.

Be busy. Have a life. Get out there and do stuff. Don't be too readily available.

Be mysterious. Don't worry about answering her generic questions. Women start to ask logical questions when they find themselves attracted to or interested in a person they know little about. "Where you from?" "What do you do?" Etc. Generally steer away from these as LOGIC KILLS ATTRACTION. You want to get her thinking emotionally, not logically.

Be unpredictable. Being boring and being predictable kills attraction fast.

Ghost, Ghost, Ghost.

What you did was wrong.

Extremely, horribly, diabolically wrong.

Were I in your situation, I would make HER pay for the date. Chances are you paid for all the other ones, so if you can't pay for this date because you were laid off and can't even cover your bills, it's time to tell her to put in her share. And if you overlook this situation, I can see this happening again and again in the future.

If you give and give but receive nothing in return, you're an idiot. But if you both give to each other, then you have a stable relationship. Besides, I don't think she's gonna break up with you just because she had to pay for the date.

All I can say is, you had better get laid after this date.

Edit: Triple post, sorry
