Now, First off, let me say I'm aware that this won't always tile perfectly, it was either make it stretchable or a fixed width. and I always think fixed width layouts are just stupid. It's pretty much the layout-to-be of my website trimmed to fit on here. [on the website there will be no tiling issues :p] Anyways, that guy hanging up there is an idiot. or at least what happens to idiots. I've still some more graphics to add here and there, but they are just link buttons are not of much importance to the overall theme. Comment. [website]

A couple questions that have always been bugging me.

-What program do you sprite in if it wasn't MS paint?
-What are your methods of making shape, size and form.
-How do you make the palettes fit in so well? Just use your gut on it?
-How long does it usually take you to make them?
-Are you precise with your spriting or do you start off with a rough gesture?

Looks like something I'd see in Metal Slug. Pretty decent for a sprite-based layout. I'd really like to see an animated sprite from you one day.

It looks good, but seems somehow slightly... unfinished to me.

Thing is, I think all it needs to look "finished" is a dropshadow or something at the bottom-right of your text field, to give your text area slightly more distinction from the background.

Otherwise very good.

Not sure why there's a big gap to the left of the text either though.

Most of the time, I use MSPaint for lineart, then depending on what type of image it is, I either finish it in MSPaint, Graphics Gale, or Pro Motion.
If it's just a static image, I'll usually just use Paint, Animations I use graphicsgale, or something very detailed or quite large, Pro Motion.

As for shape, size and form, I just make a rough sketch with the 1px tool, then clean the lines up from there. draw some lines here and there to help guide me, most of the form and shape comes when I'm shading. here's the lineart for the "cornerstone" of this layout;
Basically I made that, colored it, and just went on from there trying to make the rocky textures tile right without looking to repetitive, and slopped a background together so it didn't look too plain. the MAIN/ART/INFO images on the website are actually older images I made, and thought they could fit well with the piece.

As for palletes, for the most part I use my gut on it, I used to use exact numbers with H/S/B but lately I've been using the sliders, I pick the highlight shade first, then the dark, and pick a few mid-tones inbetween. Most of the time I'll re-use colors as much as possible, although I strayed from that on this piece, however it's more evident in most of my others. Most of it is just hue shifting and experimenting to see what looks good with what, and after awhile, it becomes second nature.

This layout actually took about a day of off/on work, mostly due to procrastination and not wanting to do the grass ^^;. Most of the time an image takes me ~1 hour to complete, depending on the complexity of it, and if I take any breaks, of course. these two I made earlier took no more than a half hour each to create; They're just some images I plan on adding to my portfolio when it's done.

As for being precise, I rarely use refrences when possible, althought at times I need too. I for sprites I'll either scribble some rough body parts, or scribble a skeleton [stick figure] and then go ahead with the very rough body parts ontop of them. As I said earlier, most of the detail comes later, while shading it, or even afterwards when it's complete and I see something else to add.
one I did with a skeleton; one I did just sketching some body parts;

I hope this has been useful to you =]. If you've any more questions about my work I'd be happy to answer them.

Tarale: The big gap is because of the cornerstone image taking up a whole table cell :x pretty much just bad coding on my part =\. I'm afraid in the years I've spent improving my visual skills my codings skills went abit downhill. I haven't thought about a dropshadow, though.

>.> Wonder if anyone's going to read all that? =P

Sadly, they lack anatomy.

Seriously they are pretty good. The animation is great. I still am restraining from too much compliment based on your label.

||EyeL E Ss||: If you have a personal problem with me, I would appreciate it if you would take it up in a PM. I'm curious to see where exactly the anatomy is "Lacking," because I have a strong suspicion you're just trolling on me. I'm not asking you to like me, I'm just asking for ways to improve myself.

Dude, mellow. After that I said "Seriously".............. that means I was just kidding.

I really meant it when I said they were pretty good.

And finally no, I have no personal problem with you........almost.......but sincerely no.

EDIT: ...........improve yourself.........really? I have used that excuse before........I doubt you mean it.........[I do not wish to fight.....and yes.... I use a LOT of periods, lol...]

actually I do wish to improve myself, I could show you some of my older works, and some of my newer, and you could probaly decipher for yourself that improving is what I've been doing.
some older work;
some newer work;

As for my "hostile"-ness, I really have no idea who you are and how you act, and I've learned the hard way never to over-estimate a person's intelligence.

Also, I updated the rocky borders to give them some more depth. They seemed very undetailed compared to the rest, to me at least. Also, some people were bitching that the black man seemed racist, so I've been tossing between the idea to keep him "human" or make him a skeleton.

I hope you didn't just insult my intelligence. I'll have you know I made all advanced ratings on an all-state test that I recently took. In Mathematics, Sciences, History and Civics, Writing, Language and English, and etc.

As for the Pictures, they are great. I can vaguely tell difference between them based on anatomy. As for just being "correct" you certainly made improvement.

updated the website, different background [should be less irritating] and new link images, the old ones were just re-used images I had from before, the new ones fit the theme. I'll edit this post so you don't have to actually go to the website. they still need some small tweaks, such as shadows, but they'll live [or stay dead ;p]
