Uhm yeah, I was bored the day, so I thought it would be fun to create some kind of trailer for my upcoming hack... so, here it is:
http://rapidshare.de/files/18615031/srp2trailer_xvid_.avi.html Xvid-codec, 13MB Not the best quality-wise of course, but it's just a trailer, so... that should work. If you want to see it in HQ, you probably have to wait for the finished hack. And if you find some engrish etc in the trailer, please let me know... and i will change it as soon as possible. Hope you enjoy it! |

Why weren't screenshots such a good idea?
I downloaded the avi anyways but it still baffles me... |

Meh, I like trailers better. It makes me want to play the hack after watching it (hint, hint). You also get to see the hack in action unlike screenshots where nothing moves.
Besides trailers are rarely seen here nowadays. (edited by fabio on 04-22-06 01:21 AM) |

-10 for using RapidShare
-10 for a video that will only play sound. |

Yeah, I've no penchant for Real Player (it's infested with spyware) and I've yet to find an avi plugin for Quicktime. All I got was sound as peter_ac has already mentioned above.
Really, this could've been done better with screens. Now I feel teased. |

Umm... How about just getting some proper codecs, you guys?
Anyways... I like the trailer thing because it's different from what we are used to. Oh and the hack looks cool. |

-10 for turning what should be a miniature Macromedia Flash file or some such into a 13 MB monstrocity. I'm not downloading a 13 mebibyte trailer, not even if it were for Super Mario Odyssey.

+ 100 because I thought it was pretty well done. It actually makes me somewhat interested which screenshots usually fail to do.

Looking good.
Only thing I think you should have made differently is the fact the first 70% of the trailer were, in fact, showing screenshots from your previous hack and only the last 30% actually were devoted to the upcoming one. |

If the original screenshots were broken down and put into a flash file, yes, the result should be much smaller. Anything else added like text or anything that didn't have to be fluid could be edited to be much smaller. But there's little point in going on since I didn't download the trailer in the first place.

you're right, there is no point to go on because the trailer isn't just a flimstrip with some text--it's actual moving video!! and 13 MB is not a monstrocity at all - it's farily reasonable for the clip's length. i'm assuming you've never dealt with digital video.
anyway, FPI it looks pretty well made (the video and the hack.) also i'm very glad you didn't use some awful song by your favorite band or something as the background music for the trailer. |

Damn, this better not become a new fad, I still have a dial-up computer, and a hard drive with only 10GB, if more and more hacks start doing this, I won't be able to find out what's going without downloading them first.

While the music is more silent (just fits the mood, something something "secret") and neither a catchy nor a special tune, it is good for its purpose.
The screens look pretty promising, especially that level with the dark ceiling coming down, the Sonic-style level (too bad regular levels cannot be more than two screens in height) and the gimmicks are looking promising. I'm looking forward for your next demo, FPI, keep up the good work. |

I'm glad to see, that there are a few guys here who get the idea behind that XD
Besides hacking SMW for example, one of my main hobby is making movies, I started with that in 1996 and felt in love with that, so since I figured out that Snes9x could record avi's that was a "must to do" for me. In fact, for all the ones who prefer screenshots, there is nothing wrong with screenshots and you can still find a lot of them on my site, so if you haven't the capabilities to download the trailer, you can still take a look on the progress from the hack. During the past few months, I updated the screenshots quite often, so.. that shouldn't be a problem.
No more demo, the next release will be the final version... I just need to make one level and after that it's done! |

-10 for using Rapidshare
But the video was awesome, so I give you +18. That should be a total of 8/10 Missing two points because I can't play it yet. (edited by FreeDOS + on 04-22-06 02:22 PM) |

Alfred Chicken for Gameboy was actually my third Videogame I've played and the first I've felt in love with, i think it's just awesome and totally underrated. |

Very unique way to show off a hack, I might consider doing the same for some of my future releases. The hack itself looks great |
