sure, I do know about that, I say the PPU hate me because when I changed the buffer used for the status bar, It did some strange graphical corruption to appear in the hilly level ending, I probably screwed something, because, when I tried to find the source of the corruption, I came back to the status bar buffer

No, you don't want to do it manually. You have to wait for Vblank to occur before you can write to the PPU and that can get really messy. Just remember to load $300, use that as your offset into your PPU Buffer and add the number of bytes you write to the $301-$3whatever buffer to $300 and store it back there, remember the number of bytes written to $3xx, NOT number of bytes about to be written to the PPU | |||

Wow Kins this hack of yours looks exelent the sprites look great and the GFX look nice.
By the way looking at your Tetris level are you going to do any other Video game themes like a Megaman, Zelda, Metroid or something like that into your hack. |

Bio, I am curious. There are 2 ways I can think of that allowed you to display the Air Meter. I never really got too into the status bar of SMB3, but here are the two ways I'm thinking:
- You find some free space, and type the text "AIR" in there, and use code to make it appear where the boxes used to be. - Since the letters are already there in the pattern table, you just make them appear by writing to the PPU. My guess is that you did choice #2. Am I right? |

to make the AIRx text apear, I first disabled the code used to draw the mushroom/flower/star card and then changed the status bar buffer to have the text included, for the number to apear and change, I used the PPU buffer that DahrkDiaz explained (edited by Bio on 04-21-06 09:42 PM) (edited by Bio on 04-21-06 09:44 PM) (edited by Bio on 04-21-06 09:58 PM) |
