Well, I just came back from my Mother's house for a lovely roast lamb dinner, red wine, a pavlova, and... well... this isn't usually my mother's cup of tea.... a horror flick.

We watched Wolf Creek.

Now, for those of you who are unfamiliar, Wolf Creek is an Australian film, released 2005, and is "based on true events". Which true events, it's not made clear, as it seems to borrow a bit from the Peter Falconio event, the backpacker murders of serial killer Ivan Milat, and touches of the Snowtown "Bodies in the Barrels" case... but still... it says it's "based on true events" and it very well could be.

The premise of the story sets you in outback Western Australia, where a group of travellers (two British girls, one Aussie boy) are travelling across to Cairns from Broome. On their way, they stop to see the Wolf Creek (in reality spelt "Wolfe Creek") Crater for some sightseeing. When they return however, their car won't start.....

The movie has been fairly built up here lately (particularly fairly recently) thanks to some interviews with John Jarratt (the bad guy, and local TV personality on Better Homes and Gardens... yes... you heard me.. he does housey stuff when he's not being evil), and the film has gotten a reputation as one that a lot of people walk out on because they cannot stomach it.

So, I was wondering -- for those of you who have seen it -- what did you think of this South Aussie flick?

I found it interesting. It's a very... uncomfortable film to watch. I don't think I'm gonna look at John Jarratt the same way for a little while
