You don't happen to have a guide or any information on the format of the scripts? There isn't anything about it written down anywhere on the 'net that is findable. :/

(EDIT: Just to make it clear to people who'll just go "hay use xxyy script editor" that isn't designed for this game, this is for Pokemon Red/Blue, as I know there are editors out for almost every other version of Pokemon. :P Sorry if this seems a harsh addition to this post, but I can see a reply to this containing useless information already... Well the scripts in Red/Blue appear to just be Z80 assembly code mixed in with the actual map data. Also, all map related data, Objects, Scripts, headers, must all be in the same ROM bank together. Since the data in Red/Blue is aligned on 16 KB banks, there is usually some free space at the end of each bank. Leaving room for more maps. Not to mention in the map bank there is like 20 free slots for new maps to be added.

it isn't so much a compression as it is...well, pretty fucking random. As I understand it, there seems to be some form of commands thgat tell the game to draw certain parts of the picture to RAM whenever it needs to. The back images also have this funky magnification system going on. I don't know how these commands work, what they do, or if the images are in some way in an editable form in a tile editor....but, I suppose its a start.

Well there is actually some cool stuff going on there. I wrote a little doc on it some mere weeks ago... - in German of course. URL Anybody feel like translating it, cuz I don't in the nearer future Anyhows, there is also some interlacing going on and the actualy picture is sorted again and magnified for Backpics and so on. Also it comes with a neat 0x31 Tile limitation and crap... so yeah... Be merry you guys...
