Cruel Melee? I've killed about 8; I would hop out away from the platform with Fox, and come back in Fire Fox and keep hitting them, but eventually they figure you out and send you flying to the moon.

I'm like "WHAT!!??" Come on!! So sad to say I am still without a worthy opponent; if any of you are good at this game, and you live in the Indianpolis area give me a call if you want to play my cell is. ###########; my name is James.

This is a truly excellent post.

Who's the best for fighting both Master Hand and Crazy Hand?(I think that's his name?) I've recently been using Sheik and have almost beaten that event. (This past weekend I picked it up again and started playing) The key for me is teleporting. You always gotta remember to teleport DOWN when a hand is either gonna poke you or try and grab you. And just hit them when you're safe. Goodness, I can't WAIT until revolution...

Mewtwo has that beautiful electric body attack when you push "b" in the air; that's pretty good against them, or Fox's fire attack is good to dodge and attack.

My friend did it in 30 some-odd seconds with him.

Anyone can do it pretty easily if they have some sort of spinning drop attack. I especially liked Fox and Link for that battle.

Anyways, I was playing last thrusday, and was kicking some serious ass even though it's been a while since I've last played. I really noticed that wavedashing is really stupid. No one I was against was perfect at it so that they would get it everytime, and it is easy to capitalize on. It is kind of sad.

I've tried Wave-Dashing, and sure, I havn't perfected it, but my friend and I seriously don't see much good coming out of it. We've both seen the clips on Google Video where the supposed "Perfect Wave-Dashing" was performed, and it doesn't look like it'd help much at all!

We'll just stick to our tricky R + Left or Right rolling.
I guess I won't know the true use of Wave-Dashing untill I challenge someone who uses it spectacularly.

Seriously; seeing that clip, I'd think that (whilst playing as my usual Mario,) I'd just grab 'em and throw 'em away. You see--that's one of Mario's strong points... His grabs.

I know me and my best bud would just LOVE to enter some sort of tournament. We've perfected our tactics against each other, and want to see how we fair (sp?) against others of supposed "great skill".
How AWESOME!!!

And they could just quickly dash backwards and smash you on your approach

Seriously, wave-dashing is no be-all end-all, but to discount it entirely is just... Ridiculous. I mean, if it was really pointless, why would so many people use it? And you can't tell me characters like Luigi ande Mewtwo don't benefit greatly from wavedashing for greater speed and maneuverability. The greatest use, however, is likely for mind-games... And they kind-of don't show up in video too well, so I can see why you would be confused. But... Eh. Yeah, it's quite useful.

Well, yeah, but Mewtwo isn't exactly the awesome beyond awesome character that Luigi is... and Luigi can easily use his other skills to defeat foes.

Which means, well, yes, I can tell you that they don't benefit greatly from increased speed and maneuverability. The mind games are only good against human opponents who are willing to play down, by which I mean lower their level of play to that of their opponents'. It's a lot like in fencing, where a class A fencer can still lose to a newbie if the newbie flails around a lot. If you play along with a dasher's mind games, you're gonna be wasting too much time trying to figure out their next move to just run in and smash them while they're being fancy. A good old bat to the face is always enough in a pinch, you don't need fancy moves if you have enough skill in other areas.

Then again, you play as Marth when you want to play Vs. Match on Easy Mode. I guess I can't really say much about being fancy or skillful.

The thing is, I've never seen it be useful, I've never seen someone good at it. So, it seems useless to me. Yeah, maybe if I was going to play against you and you proved it to be totally awesome, you would be right. You're more correct then I am now, since I've never experienced someone that was good with wave dashing.

Also, played again thursday, and Fox is somewhat broken. His up toss can instantly be put into his two hit flip in the air kick thing. Can kill people at lower precents.

and if Falco has Fox's Fire Fox length, it'd help him a lot.

Grey: Already had this conversation, resolved in my favor, etc.

Dracoon: Fox is a great character, sure, but broken? No.

And the Fox Illusion or whatever it's called is better than Fox Fire. Fox Fire is one of the easiest recovery moves to block there is.

Yeah, but if you're to far down, you have to use Fire Fox, and well, if you survive, best you can do is drop from the ledge and jump out of range of any physical attack and use the over B to get past an edge camper.

He just seems kind of broken in a few ways, really good at close range combat, he can reflect any form of long range combat, he has a great up B because of the distance it gives, and his juggling is very nice.

Then again... I still have nightmares of Shiek's dash A. It lasts an unusual amount of time when you first see it and sometimes it ignore the fact that my shield is up...

So after more than 4 years, I've gotten to the 51st event. Now...I've tried multiple strategies including leading them off the side but have gotten the farthest with captain falcon. (basically finish off bowser with A attacks and then mewtwo and ganondorf) Any helpful suggestions?

The general consensus is that it's easiest with Jigglypuff. Rest is a 2HKO on Giga Bowser, sometimes 1, rarely 3. Clever edge-hogging frequently leads Ganondorf to kill himself. Then it's just you against a fairly stupid Mewtwo.

If you want to try my "strategy", roll a hundred sided die and aim for a 13.

Seriously, though, I just had to be lucky enough for Giga Bowser to suicide twice, Ganondorf three times (or maybe it was three two respectively), and Mewtwo once. That took out a good bit of the fighting right there.

But yeah, I highly doubt you'll get that lucky.

Y'know, I'd just start of by using Ganondorf, grabbing Mewtwo, throwing him bind you and crushing him off with an arial down a metor smash for a KO. THen procede to stomp the shit out of GIga Bowser. the rival Ganondorf is the biggest problem though.

It's almost been a month. How're you going with Event 51?

If you're still stuck -- I used Ness to beat those guys.

Just keep PK-Fireing Giga Bowser, and the others will walk into him and get stuck aswell.
Keep this up untill the desired damage has accumilated, then whack 'em with your baseball bat.
Took me two tries.
