We all could care less about your scam! Has anyone ever been infected with the Winfixer popup? I have. I hate it. I want to sue. I bet others already have.

It's gotten to the point of, if I close the browser that makes it pop up, (IE) it makes explorer.exe execute an "abnormal function" and kicks me off my computer when I click "okay" I have no reason to doubt this is winfixer's doing.

I hope the people behind this winfixer thing will be put behind bars or tortured by many many weevil bugs. Winfixer bites.

A peice of advice? Winfixer is a drama queen and lies to you about your computer. The only "Malicious Spyware" in your computer may be winfixer itself!

It's not the first thing to do it. Just remove Internet Explorer (from Windows 95, Windows 98/Me, Windows 2000, Windows 2000/XP/2003, another for Windows 2000/XP)

Automatic Updates works independently of IE, and there are replacements for other components built in that use IE (MyUninstaller, etc)

speaking of windows fixes, I remember there was a site that allowed you to do windows update with other browers like lololol. However, it only worked with the the english version of windows...

Or just leave it there and don't use it.

Indeed

It will still start during the Windows boot process. It makes sense when you think of the fact that IE seems to start the UI quickly even though it's generally slow all the time.

Yes, but the purpose in this case is to prevent getting spyware through it, not reduce resource consumption. Removing IE has its benefits, but Shyguy doesn't seem like someone with enough technical skills to do it without messing things up. (No offense. )

Hell, I still have it installed for testing things in.

There probably would be so many methods to removing Internet Explorer if the only reason was to reduce resource consumption. Having IE start at Windows boot is a security hazard in itself.
