Both Games have memoriable tunes, and the SMB3-Tunes are rather short, but the levels are also.
The NES-Version of Super Mario Bros. 3 has a better sound to it, as the SNES-Version, as it's composed for the limited capabilities the NES has, overall the SMW-Soundtrack sounds better on the SNES. I won't vote for SMW nor SMAS-SMB3, as both have great music. |

Argh.
It's hard but... while SMW had my favorite track (Castle), the SMB3 level music has more diversity. Now if I could find that patch with SMB2 music mixed in, that'd be great. (edited by Tatrion on 04-10-06 08:53 PM) |

Three.
This is mostly due to W7's Overworld Map theme (Buh buh BWAAAAAAH, bwa BAH bu-bu-bum, buh buh BWAAAAAAH! Wa WA WA! *repeat*); It's quite an improvement over it's NES counterpart thanks to the added sync instruments and altered pitch-- and also the Airship theme, which, of all musics, has one of the biggest potentials for some excellent remixes. (In fact, Paper Mario 1 had a short but sweet remix of that track near the end of the ninjutsu-utilizing Koopa fortress.) The only problem with SMB3 music-wise is the boss music is not diverse nor impressive, save the Final Boss music, which is just pure p0wnage made material. ![]() SMW, on the other hand, is nowhere NEAR as diverse with their track usage as SMB3. All of World's tracks are basically copies of each-other, save the Fortress theme, which could be improved. I mean, even SMB1's Dash Four (Castle, basically) theme is cooler than the SMW castle! (It's more timeless.) The Yoshi bongoes are cool, but that's nearly the only high-point. (I like bongo music.) So, I conclude my shpiel by casting my vote for Three. |

SMB 3'S "Athletic" all the way. I'd have to go with the most replies that SMW's castle music is outstanding - hell this even scared me in younger ages, the first time I played it and the pillars killed me ![]() Other than that, I'd go with SMB3, NES version. The SMB3 ending them also was very nice, but cannot beat SMW's beautiful ending tune - which gets better and better the closer you come to the track's end. |

Well...
SMW has the Castles... and possibly the ending, been a while since I last heard that. SMB3 has Underwater, World 7 (even if the world itself was a pain in the ass), Plains, Athletic, Underground... SMB3 has more that I like. There's also the fact that most of SMW's music is the same basic melody, but that's not a huge issue, just a minor annoyance. |

Bowser, Vanilla Dome, Castle, and Ending are good. But can they stand up against a tag team of all the great atmospheric world maps plus Sky and Water? The answer is no.
And SMB3 has a really sweet ending theme too. Just thinking about it makes it get stuck in my head again. (edited by Glyph Phoenix on 04-20-06 07:12 AM) |
