Here is yet some more screenies of my hack Super Mario Element Worlds, yes they are your typical SMAS GFX, but I make them look a little different by pallette changing. I've tried to do a color type theme for the first world, and the pyramid is part of the second world to show my custom changes to some blocks. I will be editing most of the blocks in the game; I'll be changing the "?" blocks to a stone look just like what you'll see in the pyramid shot, and the "?" will glow, but I'm still unknown to what colors will be used for that. All blocks will vary from world to world. Check them out guys...

Here, I've revamped the look of the turnblocks, and made the cement blocks look like rustic ancient markings cool huh?

I've made an all purple level here, and wondering if it looks good or crappy; maybe I need a better background for an "all purple" look, or maybe I should use another color to cooridinate here

This is "Cool Cobalt Ridge" I thought it would look kind of like a fantasy with the blues in this picture, and to give it a cold feel to it. But should I use more colors.

This one is purposefully red, I personally love this level's design. It supposed t have an autumn look to it, and white is the only sky color that worked for it. But I love it; it kind of looks like early morning.

My intentions on this one was to make it look like a girly/bubbly happy la-la land type; I love the pinks, but maybe they're blinding, the water color being lighter like that helps it to have a crystal-type look(I want that). Help me out with this one guys.

I'm rather impressed. If you manage to make the "ancient" ? blocks, I think that might bring some real depth to the game. Of course, you could theoretically do ancient coins, as well...

The purple looks good, almost like a night time Kirby level. I think the trouble here, though, is that it's not enough different kinds of purple. One or two more darker shades of purple (in the foreground) would help add some variety. The enemies, coins, and blocks kinda stick out, though.

Cool Cobalt Ridge looks pretty nice, though it's a bit of a shock to see a blue level that isn't ice or water based

Your "grass" in the autumn level needs to be a bit more reddish, like the rest of the background. Also, if you want autumn, maybe you should add a layer 3 "falling leaves" effect? I'm just musing here, though. More trees (forest style) might also be good.

Your pink cutesy level (reminds me of bubble gum ) is good for the aim of it, but the fact that the water is so ice-colored is a bit blinding. If you could make it more... transparent, It'd be great, though.

All in all, I really like it. I'm not the type that is particularly "annoyed" by SMAS graphics, but you used them in a way that makes them seem unique again.

1st picture: Looks nifty, but it's hard to distinguish the turn blocks from the cement blocks. Also, the highlight on the pyramid bricks has a slight greenish tint which makes it look weird. Try making it more yellow.

2nd picture: Pretty nice (reminds me of the nighttime levels from SMAS, only better). My only complaint is the all-black background.

3rd picture: Not really much to say. I like it.

4th picture: Seems like the sky should have a hint of yellow to it. Perhaps you could add a light gradient.

5th picture: Looks good; I especially like the water effect.

I notice there isn't a "green" color-themed level, although I guess most Mario scenery is green anyway. The level design looks good too (I know you didn't ask for it, but I just thought I'd let you know... )

The light blue water in the pink pic does NOT match the level. Heck, since it's a fantasy type thing, change the water to pink

The purple level looks nifty, but the ? block on the left side of the screen has the top left and bottom left cornered whitened out.

Your blue screenie looks nice, I suggest not adding more colours to it

The autumn one is by far my favourite. It looks really soothing and cool. A few more enemies and you're golden.

Pyramid level is fine too, but the blocks on the right side of the screen (basically the structure) look too stretched.

Overall, excellent job. It looks like a great hack

The water is still something I'm on hold for.

I really couldn't find a better screenshot but it looks good during play. The "?" Block will be fixed, it was planned before you commented on it

Thanks (Blue level) It's not supposed to be watery or Icy, just kind of cool and blue.

Autumn level is my favorite too. There were more enemies but I killed them in the screenie.

Pyramid level: I will fix the blocks no problem. I'm keeping the Turn blocks and cement blocks the same color, I will fix the ugly lime-green in the highlight on the Pyramid bricks, I'm thinking I'll use ancient coins, but should I do that every where? or just the Desert World?

Thank you guys, but do you guys think a colorful first world is okay? Wait maybe I can call it Fantasy World, but I don't know; All my levels won't be i.e.
FANTASY WORLD 1 instead they will have specific names for the kind of level it is.

If you guys download my demo it a very old version, so you wont see these esigns in it, but I will release a demo when I can fathom a new overworld. I suck at OW, because I can't understand it, and you have to restart a whole game to even see if it works properly.

The desert one is especially decent. Although the turnblocks could use some slightly darker colors to add more depth, I absolutely love them nonetheless. At first I thought they were just weird looking blocks.

Also, the red scheme is pretty interesting. Sunset in Mushroom Kingdom from the looks of it. Way to mix and match graphics.

The rest look rather... linear. One too many monolithic platforms, it gets old pretty fast. You could give just a slight color change to the background objects (such as plants) to give the levels more life. I mean, I understand you're trying to make a color scheme but use different shades of a similar color.

I like them, they're nice and colorful. The red one is my favorite, partially cause I like red. Couldn't the koopas use a darker outline? They don't seem to match with the rest of the sprites.

Finally some kind of proof that it's still possible to create something interesting with SMAS-GFX. The screens are looking great, the autumn one is also my favourite! Good work!

SMAS graphics aren't NECESSARILY bad, it's just that they get used poorly a hell of a lot more often than they get used well, and are thus a good indicator of suckage.

The palletes look great, especially the purple star level. Reminds me of a Kirby game. For the Fall looking level, turn the white background a sunset like yellow and see what it looks like.

Also guys, I'll be inserting new GFX of my own which I have already done some in the screens above. I'll create a new cement block per world

Example:

1. Fantasy World: Soapy looking star blocks
2. Shyguy Desert: Ancient Markings (Two different looks for variety)
3. ??? Don't know what world to do here
4. Frilly Forest: Probobly a goomba stone block, probobly a brown stone color
5. Sky Kingdom: They'll be kind of fluffy and rounded edges just like the wooden block a cloud block I guess, it'll look nice.
6. Frappe Snowland: Stumped here. Don't know if I should use ice cube as block or something else. probobly something else for a better looking hack.
7. Shadowlands: Stumped. Maybe a distinctivly sharp purple color around black to have that look kind of like the Ing on Metroid Prime: Echoes. (I love Black and purple)
8. Fire Fields: A fire symbol on the stone looking block, or something Bowser-ish.
9. Element World: Perhaps I'll use each level depending on the element or something that can work for all of the levels, but still be able to change color depending on level type.
Switch Palace: I recently made a diaganol "!" cement block colored gray-stone, and I'm probobly going to change it to a smooth block with four squares two-toned depending on which color switch on that level.

I'll make additional blocks for special levels such as the color Yoshis, which will be a hard effort to get to them, I will base it on an "ancient hero" type legacy and the level will be unbearably long to help you earn your color Yoshi, but don't worry I won't make it "stupid-hard" Yellow Yoshi at an Earth level Red Yoshi at a Fire Level, and a Blue Yoshi at a sky level; these will be levels that are secret, I will barely have any secrets except the levels that lead to Element World, and the color Yoshis and perhaps some of the Switch coarses. OW I think I'll do what ghettoyouth did, and use Zelda: LTTP GFX, that would be sweet, but maybe I should ask him if I can copy that idea, hmmm? What to do....

Yeah I know there's a big controversy on the SMAS GFX, but I like to make whatever I have work, and the key for me is to create beautiful palettes, and I'm going to insert some GFX of my own like I mentioned earlier. Is there a way to rip your own instead of downloading some, because I was told you could save a snapshot on Znes; then you could take whatever background and make it work in a SMW hack.
