By the term, "overrrated" I was attempting to emphasize all the media marketing hype or (more bluntly) bullshit the commercials show.

Take these instances:

"ZOMG! Unrated version!" - It's like comparing Coca-cola to Coca-cola made a day before. 0.00000000001% difference... and that is the date the movie was made.

"It's the number 1 comedy in America!" - If it's a number 1 comedy it must have the equilivant to shit, next to all the other number 1 comedies made around the same week.

In spite of my previous take on the matter, I do agree on that notion about idiots. Makes me wonder why I'm still living.

I went out to see The Royal Tennenbaums on the advice of a good friend who claimed that the movie was absolutely hilarious.

Interesting? Definitely.
Engaging? Yes, to those with an IQ somewhere over 34, yes it was.
Worth the money I paid to see it? On it's own merits, quite possibly.

Hilarious? Umm...not even marginally close.

I don't know what she was smoking before she entered the theater, but I think my friend is on to some good shit there. Really, that movie was actually almost sad, in a way. Imagine Lorne Greene taking some sleeping pills and trying to do a stand-up comedy routine. That's about how funny this movie was...

I quite liked Labyrinth, and let me promise you, it had NOTHING to do with him in tights. If anything, I would have preferred him wearing less revealing clothes.

First movie that comes to mind is Napoleon Dynamite. Just, wtf.

Also, can't forget Chicken Little. I went with my 8 year old cousin and some of her friends to see it, after much begging from her, at least thinking it would be cute.
Oh so very wrong.
All I thought of throughout the whole movie was how boring, random, and pointless it was.
I really have no idea how it actually got made.

Oh, and Lord of the Rings.
They're such a bore for me. Many of my friends love them, and tried getting me to enjoy them too.... it was definitely not my thing.

Gimmie a Barbara Jones comment on my personal opinion and I'll bite your head off.

Is this your way of begging me not to argue with you again?

You're wrong of course, especially in saying that the movie was depressing (EXPLAIN HOW!), but could you at least get the name right.

That's actually part of the brilliance of the film. I know people who think it's hilarious and love it, and people who dont find it funny at all and think it's the best thing they've ever seen. To me, the combination of humour and pathos and drama and sadness is what makes it such an awesome film.

For my part though, I find a lot of it hilarious... it's all in the dialogue, the understated and awkward little moments.

"Do you send my mother your clippings"
"Please stop belittling me"

"You don't love my any more"
"I still love you kind of"

And then of course there's anything involving Pagoda or Duddley...

Brokeback Mountain is overated. If you do the research, it actually didn't sell that well, it only won an award because the liberal media made it look like it was wonderful. Come on now! Who wants to see two hairy guys bumping up against the other.

...that's my line.

But really, as I understand it, the movie was a love story between two people who, due to circumstances, couldn't be together forever. They just happened to be guys. Don't see what's so bad about that.

Funny, I just did some research and learned that BBM has grossed $82,597,700 in the USA alone. Its budget was about $14 million. How exactly does that constitute not selling well?

And if you would actually bother to watch movies before you judge their content, you would know that BBM focuses on relationships and repression, not 2 hours of Y HELO THAR BUTTSECKS.

Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! So now you're changing and lying about what I said. I never said "liberal media lol gay sex"; you're an admin, and you've toyed with what I said, I never said that YOU'RE trying to emphesize the way I look in these matters! Don't you DARE post something I didn't say! But yeah while were at it, I do laugh at the liberal media, and the gay sex; but more than anything, I laugh at the liberals being against war! If we were to not go to war, what the heck do you think would happen? There would be even more terrorist attacks! I hate war, but it needs to be done! We need a backbone for America! Not a "Brokeback".

I'm sorry you hate me, most liberals do.

To windwaker: You need to stop cussing like a little school girl everytime something is said you don't like, at least Rydain is calm about it, and I respect her for that, even though I hate her beliefs.

Hate is a pretty strong word to use.

Especially when you are discussing something you really are not well informed of.

I accept and respect others' opinions, but when voiced in a wrongful manner, which is what you are doing, it is simply bothersome.

But in an attempt to get back on-topic.

Chicago

I don't know if it is just something inside of me that makes me dislike musicals but I can't understand how this managed to beat Gangs of New York for the Best Picture Oscar.

Topic good. Topic very good. The media, the war in Iraq, and terrorism have nothing to do with this topic. Umkay? Umkay.

Anyway...Boondock Saints. My friends love this movie. It bored me. OK, I thought it was pretty interesting at least up until that flashback scene with the toilet, but it went downhill sometime after that. I can't remember specifically what made me lose interest, though.

I liked the movie, though to be honest I fell asleep with it about 3/5 of the way through. The flashbacks were geniusly (sp) done, I thought.

Scarface - it was a shitty 1980s movie. It's a pity that we have a shitty gangsta culture that is glorifying what is ultimately a poorly done movie. The Godfather pt. 1 and 2 were far better and the modern Road to Perdition is by far the best mobster movie ever made. It was simply amazing.

Scarface have a awesome theme.

At least, the "Take it to the limit one"

No I hadn't seen the movie, just heard the theme on YTMND.

Hmm, I dunno about what I found overrated recently. I have quite low standards when it comes to movies, though I have started to watch quite a few recently so... watch this thread.

I tried to, but I just... didn't get it. It was amusing, but I really can't get how it's so... "great" like a few people think it is.

*shrugs*

Funny you mentioned it, becuse I have it somewhere and yet hadn't watched it... I probably take a quick look at it.
