Recently, I've been thinking of buying one of these, mostly for N64 emulation, seeing that I prefer the GC controller over any others:
http://www.lik-sang.com/list.php?nav=over&category=162&PHPSESSID=b0174caf1b584857f22d50186b5900ce However I'm still unsure as to whether it's worth the money or not/what the compatibility is like etc. Has anyone bought one of these before? If so, how well do they work? And this counts for any kind of adaptor, not just the GC ones. Any information would be appreciated, before I spend the money. EDIT - Just realised, maybe this topic would have been better suited in the Hardware forum. Oh well. (edited by richyawyingtmv on 03-26-06 11:50 AM) (edited by richyawyingtmv on 03-26-06 12:54 PM) |

This treats the Gamecube controller as another joypad. I have a PSX-to-USB converter. It works great, except that I don't have force feedback support (but that to me isn't that important).
The only issue I have with my adapter is that it maps some of the buttons inconsistent with some games that do not allow you to re-map buttons like (Madden 2001 > ![]() |

I have a GC->USB adaptor, but it works so poorly that I've not really touched it since I got it. It wasn't one of the ones sold on Lik-Sang, though...think I got it at RedOctane, but I can't find it anywhere anymore, and I don't have it on me, so I can't show you a picture or anything. The playstation adaptor I have works pretty well, though, and my adaptoid (N64->USB) is absolutely flawless. If I had to recommend one, it'd be that one. http://www.wishtech.com

The Adaptoid is like the perfect console pad to USB adapter ever released.
more flawless is not really possible, as it not only supports the hole N64 Pad, but also it's extensions like Rumble-, Controller- and even Transferpak. But for Handling I prefer my Cube-Pad, and my Skillz Cube Adapter works fine with a original Pad (Just no Rumble). |

Oh? I could access Gameboy carts with an Adaptoid and Transfer Pak? This may be just what I need...

I'd imagine you could (just might take a little work), though I haven't tried the adaptoid with a transfer pak myself...probably depends on what you want to do with it. At the very least, as long as it can access the pak, you could possibly modify Pokemon Stadium to help you do your dirty work.
The GC->USB adaptor that I have is the Skillz Cube Adaptor. I might've just gotten a faulty one, but it pretty much flat out doesn't work. ...seems other people on the Lik-Sang forums have had some issues with the skillz adaptor, so someone made a patch for some of the bugs - http://forum.lik-sang.com/showthread.php?t=297 .Can't test it myself now to see if it fixes the problems, though. |

Bah... I've heard that these (X) to USB adapters have a poor response time. Better off just buying an imitation USB controller (like the Thurstmaster II, which looks EXACTLY like a PS2 one).

The got the Transferpack Working with the Pokémon Stadium Titles with some plugin on the N64 emulators.
HarroSIN: try that Patch, it works. But you should only use Original Game Cube Pads, as Wavebirds do not work (A Pity). |

I got a PS to USB adaptor from Lik Sang And it works great. I havent noticed any responce time problems. It works better than any computer controller I bought actually. Id suggest you buy one.

Go for a 360 pad. They're just USB. You can Google for the driver so you don't need to spend an extra $10. |
