I have decided Super Mario World is unsalvegable and that I should just toss out my working roms. But since I'm such a nice guy, I'll give Mario and Luigi a couple minutes to run around in my hack before I wipe them off the face of the earth.

Super Mario World now has bizarre status bar hacks, special attacks, star points, and those Paper Mario style Spike Tops I so adore. Will Mario and company overcome these obstacles and save the day? Not bloody likely.

As you can see, this hack is in early stages but I feel confident it will be finished by this time next year.

But wait! There's more! Two of the most powerful weapons in the world have combined to form a single entity...

It's the Bulletskate! Look upon it, ye mighty, and despair!

Oh ho, I've got some skeptics, have I? Well, I have some undeniable proof of special attacks.

This is Mario. See how he has attack points to spare? He is able to spin jump.

This too is Mario. See how he does not have 10 attack points? He is not able to spin jump.

QED.

If you increase the Yspeed of a Bullet Bill at x91DF and x91F0 and in Mario World Reconfigurer set the interaction with Layer 1 and 2 byte you too can have your very own Bulletskate. This isn't like that other instruction you got today that corrupts your rom, no sir.

Thanks. Now my bulletskates ram themselves into the wall indefinately. It's pretty cool looking.

Anyway, guys, the punchline to this April Fools joke is that it's a real hack. Spin currently does require a certain number of attack points to use. The attack meter really does read MAX once it's full. There really are spike tops on clocks wandering around.

I regret to inform you that you were totally right.

You said something about how I should stick to little SMW artifacts instead
of big hacks because then I tend to totally mess them up. I decided to test
that by making a radical hack with all kinds of status bar things done and
enemies replaced. Then I stepped back and looked at my work as a whole.

"God damn it, he was right AGAIN."

This is why you should come up with a bunch of SMW artifact ideas. There's
only one SMW artifact that didn't suck and it's the one you thought up. I
have mad ASM skills and you're not manipulating me to use them for evil, not
one bit. For shame, Kyouji. For shame.

Yeah, s'bout right. I tried building an actual level around the things I made and, well, it sucked. Big Boo Boss in a grass level? A level where you have to hop on falling Bob-ombs to reach a pow then again to reach a door? Avoiding spike tops to enter pipes? What the hell?

See, I like to think I've gotten better since the days of Super Mario Illiad and Project MALLOW, and I have. Just... not as much as I'd hoped.

So. If somebody could think up this great status bar hack idea or whatever... I can do that.

They say good ideas are a dime a dozen, but that's just said by dreamers thinking the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. Those who have technical skills still suffer from a lack of ideas. I have been on both sides of this fence in my life. When I was young I had ideas in excess, and now that I'm older I finally have the skill to do them but the ideas have dried up.

So. Come up with some stuff, people. My powers of ASM aren't being used for diabolical purposes and that's such a waste.
