Here's a quick rundown. Open up the 8x8 Overworld tile selector. That's where you select the tiles to build the overworld. The 16x16 Overworld tile selector. It is where you can select stuff like the level tiles and paths. The Layer 2 Event tile selector lets you select events while in Layer 2 event editor mode. You can edit these by placing tiles with the 8x8 Overworld tile selector in there. To switch events in the event editor mode, use Page Up to go back one, and Page Down to go down one. Use Home to go back one "step" of the event and End to go forth one "step". Steps are the order things are revealed or done in the event. Layer 1 Event editing is similar to Layer 2 event editing, only you're using Layer 1 tiles.

To edit a layer 1 tile's properties, go into layer 1 editing mode and under the overworld menu, select "Modify Level Tile Settings".

To link pipe and star tiles together, select the first tile. Set the index of it to anything, but try to keep it orderly. Now select the second one. Set the index for it to something else, and the destination index to that of the first one. Finally, go back to the first one and set the destination index to that of the second one. Red exit tiles are edited in a similar fashion. To manage destroying castles, fortresses and switch palaces, go to "destroy level tile settings".

That's all you need to know for doing the most basic of editing. For the rest of the information, check out Lunar Magic's help file.

As long as I've been hacking; I've still been unable to understand the OW.

*copies asdf's advice*

That's a poor outlook on things HHH3, if you don't know how to hack something, then you should try until you suceed, otherwise it makes you a bad hacker if you have no drive to learn...

I'm thinking about stopping the level design, and start trying to figure out exactly how to work on the OW.
