Hi Everybody,

Anyone ever seen Rocket Power on Nick? The character Sam?
The others call him a 'squid'. How come geeks or smart people are portrayed in negative light?

Other examples are:-
Gizmo in Beetle Bailey
Kenny in Beyblade G-Revolution
Dliton in Archie's comics

I might be missing out a dozen others but this habit has been ingrained
in our pop culture.

I was always under the impression that they call him that because he is the new kid in the group. Twister was once called 'squid'

By the way, it's 'squid'

It also serves as a word used in Harry Potter.

Which brings me to show that Hermoine is considerably smart and while she is made fun of and the likes, she does share the positive view when dealing with mature and sensible people who praise her and congratulate her for her achievements.

I believe you're correct on this. I forget the exact details, but Sam inherits the "Squid" title on the basis of being the new kid, as you said.
