A while back when I released my demo in the database; everyone liked the level design, but everyone said i had status bar issues because the colors were like the same as the BG, and I was going to hope that no one cared about that so much, but they did. My problem: The stupid status bar palette shares colors with the BG, and it's making me ticked! If I have to change some of the status bar colors back then the background would look cheesy with uncoorinated colors in the BG. Ugh!! Any solutions?

As you can see I create nice-looking levels with nice colors, but it interferes with the status bar; any help would be appreciated. Thanks

How about you just don't use Palette 0 or 1 for the background? It's as easy as that. Of course, there's the repetitiveness of actually changing the Map16 for the background, but that's only a minor issue.

Yeah i did the same thing actually in my hack as well, there are quite a few level, which had status bar problems, but I changed the palettes. It's a bit work of course. You have to set up all the tiles in the Map16-editor, so they are using the new palette, but I can say, it's really worth it.

aren't the other palettes used for other important things though?

Yes, but let's be blunt here. People care more about the status bar more than they do some petty other object that you don't even have to use. Don't know why. But at any rate, than can be worked around with ease.

Well, you could do what Ghettoyouth did in PITMK and PITMK2 and change the status bar to use all one color. (wouldn't outwrite solve your problem, just make it easier to fix)

man i should have done testing using other palettes other than 0 and 1 for the backgrounds i ripped to see if i could notice the effects. would have been easier than remapping the colors to only use colors 1-7 and sometimes 8 and C of palettes 0 and 1 for them.

oh well at least they fade out properly at the end of the level. that's a plus.

I think the best solution is to go ahead and make the status bar all one color.

Where can I edit the fonts? I can't find them in my GFX folder; are they somewhere else? (Man, I'm acting kind of noobish today! There's just some things I never questioned when I should've )
