???: ... Hadn't had that effect on a girl in a while. Glenn looked at the stranger incredulously before grabbing the front of his poncho. Glenn: Hey! This is no time for jokes! Before Glenn knew what was happening, he was on the ground next to Hikari, looking down a gun's barrel. ???: I don't take too kindly to folk yellin' at me like that. This here's a Colt Single Action Army... Also rightfully known as the Peacemaker. You'd do well to keep away from its business end. The stranger removed the gun from Glenn's face and holstered it, before turning back to Nalon and the others. ???: Sorry 'bout that, ma'am. Instincts and such. Glenn, meanwhile, had turned his attention back to Hikari. Glenn: Ugh, she was stung by a ghoma spawn earlier... How could I forget that they're poisonous? ???: Ghoma spawn? | Nova eventually wandered over to the bar and had a few drinks, sitting around observing the locals. Nothing seemed to really be going on in this town. The rogue sighed. You try to help and nothing comes of it. You try to make a break and no one will help.
Nova: I suppose it'll serve her right if her ranch gets taken over. He quickly put that thought out of his mind. No, no, if you're going to change your ways, you can't just say screw 'em all to everyone who doesn't agree with you right away no matter how right you may be. Nova: I'm going to make her listen to me. It's for her own good. Bartender: What'd you say? Nova: Nothing, nothing. Keep the change. The rogue tossed some money on the bar and walked out the door. Mounting up, he started making his way towards Outset Ranch. |

| Marin had quickly ran off into the house nearby.
Nalon: Gohma spawn? Of all the random things to happen. Marin came running back out, and rushed over to Hikari. Marin: I got some Red Potion. Auntie Kurima is setting up the bed upstairs. Nalon propped Hikari's head up, while Marin poured some of the Red Potion into Hikari's mouth. Hikari's eyebrows twitched a bit until her breathing calmed down. Marin: She's doin' better.. I'm relieved.. Nalon: It ain't gonna cure her, but atleast it'll stop the pain. With that much she drank, she'll stumblin' around like a typical drunkard. Assumin' she'd wake up. | The sun was setting over the plains, and Nova had no desire to be stuck outside in the middle of the night. He urged on Sabor, tried to get him going full speed. Maybe he should have waited until the next day.
Nova: Yeah, yeah, I know. I mean, really, you could have waited until tomorrow to tell her. It's not like they're going to come right away. The company was waiting for you to go back to them with information. Nova: Alright, ok? It's not like I can just go back to town now anyway before nightfall. Yeah, but still, really. You ought to barge in there even if the gate's closed. Nova: Yeah, that's what I'm trying to stay away from now. Pussy. Nova: You're the worst narrator ever. |

((I went to change Marin's hairstyle to a ponytail, and Nalon's to be shoulder length.  ; ))
Nalon: Stop squawkin' and hurry up! Everyone headed upstairs, where an older woman that looked like Nalon, but with glasses, and her hair as long as Hikari's. She had clothes that were a bit similar to Nalon's, except her skirt was brown, she didn't have a cloth infront of her skirt nor an ascot, and her slightly olive shirt had full lengthed sleeves. Kurima: The bed's all set, please put her on it quickly. Nalon, what happened to her? No one knew why Kurima didn't speak with an accent. She was the oldest of all on the ranch, and she would've been the best one to have an accent, too. Nalon: They say she was poisoned by some Gohma spawn. Kurima: Gohma spawn? But they were-- Nalon: Yeah. Kurima: *sighs* She's going to be in a critical condition for several days.. I'm going to reference the books to see what can be done. |

| Johnathan sighed. He had missed the entire event, having taken a long nap on the wagon on the way home. He had only just woken up... And now he had to deal with the fact that Hikari was injured, when if he had been awake, there might have been something he could have done. He stepped into the room where everyone was congregating, and offered a piece of advice.
Johnathan: "Gohmas are quite serious business, but the poison they exhibit does have a cure. The problem is that the poison itself is so rare that nobody has ever bothered to mass produce an antidote. Moreover, it exists solely to deter, not necessarily to kill. I mean, what kind of Gohma spawn is capable of devouring an entire human being whole? It is not built to kill larger creatures..." |

| Kurima's glasses shimmered as she stepped back to the group.
Kurima: Evolution. The ranch girls all looked at Kurima, who was holding a book about known creatures. Kurima: Hikari is the last person on this ranch to fall to anything poisonous. She does get affected, but she starts moping around and just gets too weak to be doing any work. Marin: You're right Auntie Kurima! Sis never collapsed from any poison! Nalon: Hikari could've jus' been really tired. I mean.. look at 'em. They all look like they just stepped out of a dead, giant dondongo's mouth. Kurima: I honestly doubt that's the case. Gohma spawn are supposed to live only around the South Eastern Bowl and the Lost Wasteland near it. |

| When Nova reached the ranch, it was surprisingly quiet. It was dark, but only barely, by the time he got there, and he would have expected a bit more activity. Were they all inside? He brought Sabor in through the gates and dismounted.

Kurima: Honestly, she never pays attention when something's happening. Nalon: Couldja blame her? Kurima: Not really. Nalon: We should try gettin' Hikari feelin' better before we start worryin' about why it was there. Kurima: *sighs* This isn't good at all. The last time someone had the ingredients for the cure was before our time. You needed poison from a Gohma spawn, and fresh water from the Kasuto Bayou. Nalon: Kasuto Bayou?! Nothin' healthy 'bout that swamp! Kurima: I know. It was once said that there used to be fresh water that ran through it. But no one knows anymore, and especially not since the thieves known as the Radical Dreamers set it up as their hideout. --------------------- Marin quickly opened the door. Marin: I'm sorry, sir, but-- Marin's eyes wandered over to Sabor, and then onto Nova. Her voice slightly cracked a bit. Marin: I.. Ah.. um.. We.. we're.. closed right now, sir. And.. Um.. we're having a little problem. Um.. I'm sorry, but could you come back tomorrow morning? |
