The only reason I want a PS3 is for RPGs. I mean, christ. sony has pretty much been the king console of rpgs since the psx came out.  and I have an RPG addiction like woah.
I dont mind paying $400 or so for it, but if that fucker doesn't have the hard drive, then evil sony wont be getting money for this system from me.  |

| They said it won't sell for less than 50,000 yen at the press conference, so convert and add whatever you think they'll add.
If the system's going to cost $700-800 to make, they CAN'T go for $399 because they're going to lose money. I know they make it back on game sales, but every person who buys a PS3 isn't going to buy 5-6 games right off the bat. Revolution's supposed to come out by the end of this year. We'll find out at E3 since they're going all out and are going to hold their press conference at the Kodak Theater. (Home of the Academy Awards.) |

| 50,000 yen eh, well if thats the price they end up going with, then it wont be too bad, $491 canadian(+ fees or whatever) I could spend $500 on the ps3, plus 60 or so for a game....I wonder if it will be higher or lower then the 50,000 yen. | |||

IBM used to be the unbeatable giant in the past, Microsoft is the giant of today. I really hope the computer industry won't just have a single giant but having a more fair market. 
That said, I'm only excited for revolution as frankly... plain graphics stopped impressing me after the PS2/Gamecube/X-box generation. If graphics is done in a way where it's intuative (like very high-res voxels graphics where everything is destroyable) then I might get impresesed.
$450 eh? Well, historically expensive systems usually have harder times to get sold than cheaper system (at least to some extent). There's a few systems who was quite before their time in terms of sheer power, but they were too expensive for most people. Still, i'm not a stock owner in any company so why would I care how well the companies goes? None of them is going bankrupt anytime soon.  (edited by Ailure on 03-16-06 09:40 PM) |

| $449 would still be pretty expensive and you can bet MS will look into some form of a price cut (even if it's only by $25) to try steal sales away. I doubt that they have Halo 3 stashed away to steal the thunder, though. | |||

| God, this whole sony situation really depresses me. I don't really like how games are becoming mainstream now, because that means that they're going to get more and more and more expensive as time goes by and the competing companies are determined to impress gamers with flashy graphics and gimmicky gameplay (case in point: Kyouji's allusion that DOA4 really is nothing more than glorified rock, paper, scissors). BluRay technology is just a small example. It's needlessly expensive, and really, how awesome can a game become from just graphics or gameplay?
If bigger really is better, explain to me why I still go back and play Kirby's Superstar or Gunstar Heroes when I'm bored. |

| I hope this turns out well... And I hope it'll be better tan the 360. But I won't get it on the day it comes out, for a few reasons:
1. Very hard to get one 2. Expensive 3. Might not have any good games 4. If the hard drive thing is true 5. I'm happy with what I have right now. |

| I know someone who has a PS2 and he's complained about DVD's freezing up at times, so yes. At least with the early shipments, I don't know about more recent ones.
Then again, BluRay itself is brand new so the $900 player could be buggy as well. |

| Ah, you Americans have had it WAY to easy, I¡¦m more than pleased at the prospect of a simultaneous worldwide release than anything else, although 1,000,000 machines at launch doesn¡¦t seem all that much truth be told. What¡¦ll Europe get? 12?
Hmm¡K I wonder if the worldwide simultaneous release of Games will be a reality too. Oh and as the PS3 will be backwards compatible with the entire library of the previous generations (that¡¦s ENTIRE, hear that Xbox360?), does this mean it¡¦ll have the largest launch line up in history of any console? (Apart from Revolution) BTW did anyone read the side comment on the PSP? PSOne Emulation will be available soon ¡V FF7 on the go, Woo hoo! (Ok so technically I¡¦d need a 2Gb memory card for that, but still¡K Portable Parappa sounds good for me.) . Also Flash compatibility also means ¡§Badger Badger Badger¡¨ on the go too ƒº |
