Hey, I'm getting this error and I was wondering if anyone had ever seen it before. I just reformatted my hd and reinstalled windowsXP on a FAT32 partition. It started happening after I isntalled AIM Triton, which I have now removed from my computer and put on AIM v5.

Thanks for the help.

its definatly not a windows error, i've gotten ad's through the messenger sevice before so i just shut it off through msconfig. just ignore it, and scan your computer for adware and spyware.

Yeah, that's the wierd thing, it's not a link or anything, it's like a typical error and I've run ad-aware and it hasn't picked up anything. And I've checked my task manager and nothing seems to be running that shouldn't be there. Oh well, maybe I'll just redo my hd again (third time this week, damn)

Windows Messenger Service.

See Parasyte's link.

Also, I've seen that exact "error" recently on a friend's machine, and yes, disabling the Messenger Service made it go away.

There was also another one where it proclaimed loudly at the end that YOUR ERRORS WILL GO AWAY FOREVER!!!!!

Oh yeah, and that one said that there were (ha) "registry errors" too.

Relax, you don't need to reinstall anything, you don't have any spyware or viruses. You have a messenger service enabled that allows people to spam you with popups like that one.
