Okay, so I've got the arcade version of this game and a few times I've managed to turn Ryu into Ken. What happens is that his costume turns red and his moveset goes to that of Ken's in all the newer arcade SF. Does anybody know what the button combination is to do this (I've only managed to do this by random luck it seems), it's not on any of the FAQs at gameFAQs (which is kinda surprising).

You can put Ryu into 'Ken Mode' and 'Gouki Mode' (each taking a super bar).
The command is hcb+Jab/Strong/Fierce (63214P). Jab for Ryu, Strong for Ken, Fierce for Gouki.

Ryu mode is as usual.

During 'Ken Mode', Ryu has the Flaming Shoryuken, his hurricane kicks arc upwards, has Ken's overheads, but his hadouken loses range and damage. He also has Ken's supers.

Gouki mode has the Tenma Gou Zankuu and Air Gou Hadouken downwards at a 45º angle. He has Gouki's supers (Messatsu Gou Shoryu, Messatsu Gou Hadou, and even the Shun Goku Satsu - takes 3 levels though). He also get's hurt like a bitch (like Wolverine).

It's a "Half Circle back" on the controller... Basically, it's forward, down/forward, down, down/back, back. A lot easier to do with a joystick than a controller, but not as easy to chain into other moves.

You execute it by rolling your thumb from the forward button down across the down button and then to the back button. I much prefer it to half circle forward moves, which is pretty much the opposite, start from back, move to forward. A lot easier to execute.

Thanks for that explanation, I got it from the fourth word, but all the extra stuff was nice. My hands are trained for rotations using keyboards, which took a little while to get used to.
