Anyone know what could be causing the clock to randomly skip ahead, between 20 minutes and an hour all of a sudden. and it gets annoying, since sometimes it makes you think thats what time it is...when its not...so then I have to sync with the time.windows.com server..

Does it happen while Windows is running, or when you shut down?
Most of the time, if your clock is acting screwy, it means you need to change the battery on your motherboard (especially if you get any CMOS errors). However, some motherboards are really bad at keeping track of time, no matter how fresh the battery is. Before I replaced my main computer's battery, it would fall behind a couple of minutes each day, but only after I ran certain programs a few times (Lunar Magic did it on a consistent basis). With the new battery, it tends to jump AHEAD a few minutes, but not quite as often as before. So confusing. ![]() |

it happens when windows is running, and sometimes it goes ahead, 5,10,20,40 minutes, or even more unless I turn it back to the normal time...its kinda getting annoying, it only started like 2 days ago...doesnt slow down at all, or anything, it just goes ahead and it does tend to do it more when there are alot of programs open.

So when it jumps ahead, does synchronizing with the time server fix it? If not, it's probably a sync problem.

yeah, syncing it turns it back to the normal time, but sooner or later it just turns ahead a little again.
