Well, if you haven't noticed by my avatar, I am in the process of making a new hack with some new things...

To begin, I decided to make a new Mario sprite. I couldn't think of a person to make, and I decided to shift gears to a dinosaur type of creature. Don't ask.

After I got the sprite made, I named him Alzo. Then I made another sprite for the Luigi sprite (thanks to Smallhacker for the patch) and named him Rixe.

Since I just got started with it, I don't have much to present. What I do have to present though is the following two images.

A new FG I am working on. The plants are going to be on a pole to make it look better. Idea came up when I took a shower tonight...

A sprite sheet of the two characters of their poses I have done (except the running sprite, which I forgot to put in this sheet). Since I had no idea how Rixe should look compared to Alzo since they are brothers, I went with the Mario/Luigi idea and made him skinny. I also shrunk his horn.

Now, what I need to do is finish the small sprites and work on the big sprites, as well as create the overworld, which, like SML2, is going to have an unlinear overworld. Since I despise overworld editing, this might be the task that takes me forever.

I do have world plans, though. They are:

Jungle Jive: A jungle based world with many exotic plants and creatures. Will use the tileset above once it is complete.
Bigg's Belly: The belly of a giant creature. Acid and obstructions are amok.
Fog Factory: An abandoned factory, overrun with fog (GASP!) and the ghosts of the past.
Pompous Pipe: Inside of the underground plumbing lurks dangerous stuff.
C. Cliffside: Home of Velo C. Rapper, this mountainous plateau never loses its cool, but it does lose its structure a lot.
BT Dungeon: Bass Tard, the guy taking over the world, planted this dungeon as a last resort against rebels Alzo and Rixe. The only way to get here by pipe is the first six (insert Yoshi egg equivilants here) and to unlock the door to his fort is with all seven.

I don't have any ideas for the Star and Special World, so that's as far as I got. I still don't have a decent storyline yet, but progress is coming along. I'm also looking into some ASM guides so I could try making some new twists in the game.

All I need are some ideas for what I could improve on for the tileset and the sprites, as well as replacements for Yoshi and some of the enemies.
Right now, I want to focus on the graphical part so I can get that out of the way, which I need ideas for each tileset (preferably the one I am working on right now, which is for Jungle Jive) and the corresponding sprites.

Constructive criticism and ideas for this may begin...

I love the custom sprites, and that FG looks fliptastic. The star world and special worlds could be storyline twists that take you there or something (I don't really know, I'm just giving suggestions )

I don't really have any complaints right now - C. Cliffside sounds great

Great Job, I really enjoy the foreground GFX this hac looks like it is going to turn out very well. Make sure that you add in a better background instead of the blue one, but I think you alreadyy knew that, anyways I can't wait for a demo.

Did you read his post or just look at the pictures?

You dont have much there, but it still looks cool... On the foreground, since your going for Jungle Jive, put some vines hanging on stuff, it will make the green ground with dots look less boring.

Actually, I might just make them optional worlds like in SMW, but I want a different theme for them.
As for C. Cliffside, I just came up with that when I thought of dinosaurs... 0_o

Well, I need to make a background, of course.

Nice suggestion. I might try that out tonight.

What I got done from last night. As you can see, its Rixe doing his sliding motion. The poles look okay to me, but the problem was that I wanted line guides from one post to another. Didn't turn out right... as the platform falls down when you reach the screen that it is on...

I'll take the suggestions that I did get and try working on them after I get some other stuff taken care of.

Vines.

Poles on which the vines grow.

The vine things don't look very good. They don't look much like vines at all, which was didn't matter for the first screenshot (they could pass fine as strange coiled things), but when it comes to the poles they just don't work.

If you want those things to look decent attatched to the poles you're going to have to start them over with a darker, leafy style. Y'know, like a.... vine instead of a strange coiled thing.

try making the each individual vines not so close to eachother, not like their touching but make them look spread out a bit more I think that would do the trick, maybe add some leaves to.

I think I'll remove the poles from those plants and actually make an actual vine go on the poles. I like the plants as is for some reason and would prefer not to get rid of them.

So, I'll remove the pole with the plants and make them just seperate from the poles. The poles are going to have some sort of vine on them as well as have some platforms for sprites and Alzo to walk on.

Cool creativity! I like the sprites; they were designed well, not crappy like I've seen others do, but you did good; nice work! Are you going to have some Backgrounds, because it will look like a 8-bit NES game if you don't.
