Holy crap, yeah. game stores rip you off. I also worked at Gamestop...in two different states. XD

I had Disgaea and I really hate that game. Gamestop would give me $20 or so, depending on the one I went to, demand for it, yadda yadda. Ebay ? $57

Is the legend of dragoon a greatest hits copy or not? I had it, but my copy got stolen a looong time ago. If it's not greatest hits, I'd be potentially interested in buying it, depending on how much you'd want.

Disgaea was a okay game whadaya talking about! I thought it was pretty funny. But yah Clockworkz...you can sell them on EBay for a much larger sum. Or be like me. I never sell games, I'm a videogame packrat D; this is why I have 3 Megaman 5's

But even the $20's not that bad because at least it seems like GS recognizes the rarity of Disgaea and the fact that it's a game a lot of people are looking for. Granted, when it comes to games like that you can make double (EASILY) by selling to a friend or on eBay, but it's not really that much of a shaft.

And the reason sports games are the worst in terms of value is because new versions come out EVERY year, and they also tend to take a price drop around 6 months after release to begin with. Within the next month I'll bet that Future Shop/Best Buy here will have a sale with 2006 EA Sports games for $19.99 each. With sports games, you can get some value for them a few months after purchase. The value's going to dip when the initial demand dies down (6 months?) and it's going to crash when the new version of the game comes out. For example, I can get Madden 2005 for $10-15 here if I wanted it, and by this time next year Madden 2006 will be on sale for that price as well. So if a store's only going to make a few bucks (IF that) off the sale, they're certainly not going to offer you top dollar.

*end rant*

There's only one time that the value on sports games goes up, and even then it's only on ebay, as the game stores will still shaft you. One of my friends told me about his experience with this.

NCAA basketball games. They tend to come out towards the beginning of the season, and right around tourney time (as in, now) a lot of college guys are willing to pay a LOT of money for them.

I hate strategy RPGs, because I suck at them. XD At least I can admit it. See, I always have one character live and then everyone else dies so they're all severely underleveled and it pisses me off like woah. That's what happened again with Disgaea and I wanted to buy a REAL (!) RPG so I sold it so I could get another one. XD

$30 bucks is a huge difference. XD But yeah, in the $20s is the most they'll ever pay for a game..

Oh, another thing that drops the value... when a game achieves Greatest Hits status. I saw it happen once, when prices dropped on Tales of Symphonia when it became a Player's Choice title (and thus on sale for $29 here) - I think the used copies were selling for $35-40 and that had to go, and of course the vicious cycle continues.

Sky: True, but I know for a fact that NCAA games are HARD to come by in Canada. I rarely see them in stores if ever, so I wouldn't be surprised if you could get a good trade-in value for them regardless.

And at least Disgaea has a kickass theme song.

I bought Tales of Symphonia for 19.99 USD. I've been trying to sell my copy of Soul Calibur II and Gamestop only will give me like 2.00~4.00 USD, could I be better off on Ebay?

I doubt it, since that game is pretty common and not in terribly high demand.
