But I can't seem to remember the name of it. I want to download a rom and play it, but I forgot the game name.

First off, it had a picture of a man with a banjo on the boxart. It was generally a flying side scroller. The first level was in the sky, where you could get power-ups and shoot more. Once you lowered, you fought around the city a little bit, but once you reached the lowerest point of flying in the city, a boss came forward. I can't remember anything else.

Could you perhaps say what system it's for? That would help probably.

hold on

as long as we're investigating forgotten games

I had a ROM of a pretty interesting one at one point, however the file is now gone (got shuffled off on some lost hard drive I guess) and I don't remember what it was called

  • SNES game
  • sidescrolling shooter/platformer
  • main character had an extendo-arm I think
  • there were lots of different weapons, I think they replaced each other when you picked them up like in Contra 3
  • the second level was in a desert or something
  • between the real levels there were retarded mode 7 things
  • in some later levels you were in a submarine and underwater, not sure on this one, maybe I'm getting mixed up with Axelay
  • the extendo-arm could grab walls, or you could climb walls megaman x style, or something, in any case there was a lot of vertical scaling early on
  • it was fairly sweet

any ideas?

One can never forget Phalanx after seeing the boxart.

The game Zem is describing is Super Turrican 2.

Just curious - what drugs were Kemco on when they came up with THAT boxart? I mean, boxart isn't always everything but some people might have been turned off by the game based on that!

I remember the guy was in the ads for the game too... just really odd. I don't understand their marketing strategy.

...Wow. I just went and beat the game in 45 minutes. I actually thought that man was part of the game. I was saddened by the lack of story. I could've come up with a nice plot.

Might as well ask about a game I remember playing as a kid too.
I dont want to play it as much as I just want the name of it.
Been bugging me for months.

System: NES
Cart Sticker: I think that it was a blonde guy in grey armor with a weapon of some type.
Genre: Platformer
Desc:
You took control of the guy on the sticker and all I really remember is going around and killing stuff as well as collecting orbs.
I think the background was mainly a castle type setting.

Sorry its so vague but I was younger than 7 the last time I saw/played it.

Sounds like Super Ghouls and Ghosts ... but I don't think it is because of the orb part.

You do get "orbs" after beating bosses in Super Castlevania IV though.

Try those ... I guess.

Yeah it was on the NES, not SNES.
There was "Ghosts and Goblins" for the nes but that wasnt it.

It was a very non-mainstream game and if it helps the art style on the cover was the classic NES Live-Actionish Action shot.

In Wizards And Warriors (and its sequal, Iron Sword, which I remember better, so ), there was a guy that meets your description, but the guy wasn't wearing armor on the sticker, only in game.

(As long as we're nostalgia-ing, anyone remember Conquest Of The Crystal Palace? I've asked before, but I don't remember anyone ever saying they played the silly thing.)

I was actually thinking Ironsword myself, but I don't think there are any "castles"in Ironsword. The first Wizards and Warriors had them, but not until later in the game.

Neither guy on those covers had blond hair, anyway, I don't think.

Ironsword was the one with Fabio on the cover, yes. (I should know, I own it.)

Long shot... could it be Time Lord?

I own it too; I couldn't be sure if he had blond hair (He apparently doesn't), and was too lazy to go look.

No, there's worse out there. Trust me.

And if you think it's bad, don't blame MB... blame Rare.

Hah hah, Rare was involved? That's just rich. I was thinking about how the ridiculous collecting of time orbs to continue reminded me of Rare, and then the generally poor gameplaly, and then this... That's great.

But I'd rather blame Milton Bradley.
