Okay, I'm kinda wondering now if I should just give up on playing guitar. I've been at it for three years but I can't find a band I wanna join so I need to now if I suck or if there is any hope.

This was recorded at about 8 AM, I'm usually not even awake by then so I'm pleased at how fast I could play. The quality is rather shitteh but I can't help that. It has been "mastered" in no way, I mean during the recording my strap slipped off so if it sounds like ass at some points it's cause I was trying not to drop the guitar And nothing was planned, I was just bored out of my mind so I just went and played around, hence why there are no real riffs in there

Equipment:

A USB mic, somethign from Logitech but not that excellent for recording
A busted Bass amp, it works for the most part but I need a new one.
A digitech effects rack
A Peavey EXP LS guitar, has 6-strings (Blue Steel), tuned down half a step
And Audacity for recording, why? Cause I'm a cheap bastard

Anyways, criticize, cry, gasp, whatever just tell me what you think.

And if you don't notice... I like Speed

Gonna be honest with you. It hurt my ears quite a bit, and I turned it off after thirty seconds. I'd really rather listen to the Digi Rap

Well at least you were honest, thats what I'm looking for. Well since about 28 people have seen it and only one person has spoke up about it I guess I'm gonna quit.

Server not found. But I wouldn't give it up based on just one person's opinion, especially someone who tends to be over critical.
But then again, I haven't heard it yet.

Edit: Ok, it decided to load. It doesn't seem too bad. Its just so high pitched. Also, it would be better if it was less random, and more of a repeditive rhythm.

You need to get straplocks if your strap falls off.

You also need to just stop recording and try over if you screw it up. Also don't make excuses for your shit. It's a bad vibe, even if I do it too.

You have ok speed but nothing special or extraordinary, especially for 3 years.

After listening to the whole thing... next time try actually playing some MUSIC, instead of just random notes as fast as you can. If you're going to improvise then at least play in a scale and have some sort of a melody in there.

Your timing isn't great and your accuracy and precision aren't good either.

You have a LOT of work to do if you ever want to go anywhere with guitar playing, especially as a soloist of any genre.

Show us some music you have written and then we can tell you if you iwll be successful.

I have to agree with the others, give it some formula and ditch the high notes at that speed and level of randomness. I recommend listening to some classical music and obserivng the patterns, a lot of musical artists take some of their rhythmic ideas from it. Listen to some of the classics from each genre for a more modern example.

It's not bad for a start and the piece gets a bit better as it goes on. Keep working at it, you at least have something to stand on and work with.

But I don't want to re-hash anything that has already been done, I'm so sick of hearing people play the same crap over and over. Powerchording through out a whole song like Green Day or just playing non stop scale after scale gets boring and stale, so I have decided to not play anything like that, to make me stand out more. Evidently I stand out too much.

But anyways, here is something I did about 3 or so monthes ago, it's slow and more mellow. I've had people say they liked it and some have said they hated it so whatever...

But yes, I'll admit that the crap at the top is well... crap but I was just playing around, nothing planned. I will try and record something that actually has a beat and ryhthm.

But the thing is, its only crap because they've been playing it over and over, it wasn't crap the first time it was recorded

This, though, wasn't too bad. Needs a little polish, but still not bad.

The second one is much better.

As for standing out though, take lessons from human life, it's very rhythmic and timed, even down to body cycles and the things we find comforting. Rhythm and patterns are what the whole world revolves on and also the foundations of music and musical theory.

Also, it's helpful to take the Burkian Parlor in mind, nothing you think, say, or do is new. It's all based on ideas that have been passed through time, be it in the areas of math, science and technology or of various art forms.

Anyway, if you polish the second one up some and keep your style but with something resembling typical music, you should be doing well.
