"Well, we can't just let them die... and trying to take it form an army will be better... Stay here, I'll distract them, you help try and get Allison to safety." Ark put Lily down and started to run down the hill. No one was even paying attention to him, he burst through the ranks of soldiers, not bothering to try and fight them and arrived just a split second to late. "DAMN YOU!" Ark stopped in the opening, shocked. There was nothing he could do, he was to slow, and now he was in the wide open, surronded by an army. "What kind of monster are you!?" |

| Ark soon found a leather whip wrapped around his neck, courtesy of Danielle.
Gregorious: Ah! I wasn't expecting vermin to be appearing so soon. Lily saw Ark was in definite trouble. But he was putting up a distraction.. Lily: Ok.. I'll just give them all a little earthly shake.. then try to run in there.. Phaere: Or maybe not. Lily started quivering as soon as she realized she had a pair of blades being held infront of her. Phaere was standing behind her. Lily: Whoa! How did you get here so fast?! Phaere: Don't even bother, old man. One little move and she's done for. Danielle: Commander Gregorious, what shall we do with them? Gregorious didn't bother turning his head as he hoisted Allison's fainted body onto a wagon. Gregorious: Just toss them aside. I think we've had enough fun for today. |

| ((Well, that just shows how much I know about military ranks...just think of him as the unit commander and it makes more sense, maybe?))
Sky: Warping ducts? I'm afraid I'm not familiar with those. Anyway, if we go after them, we're going to have to be very careful. I don't think any of us are exactly up to taking on a whole army, particularly if there are more high-ranking soldiers around. Cassandra: But what do we do about-- Sky: I don't know. We'll figure out what he meant if we follow them, though, I'm guessing. |

| Ark grabbed the whip around his neck and pulled it so he could breathe, and to a lesser degree, speak.
"I don't even care about that girl, she just has something that belongs to a friend. Let me get it and you'll never hear from me again..." Ark was straining to keep the whip from closing around his neck and sufficating him. "If only I had my weapon... I could at least protect myself... all I can do is bluff right now..." "If you don't let me have it, I'll be back for it anyways!" "And not even good bluffs... I'm Omeless, like he'll even think I'm a threat..." |

| Lucas: Warping ducts.. They're supposedly found all over the island. Adventurers tend to use it to return to Southern Light, since all of the ducts, as long as they're open, will connect to the village. We haven't discovered the location of all of them, so we might, infact find one nearby. And let's hope Arminas and Allison found it.
----------------- Gregorious mounted the same wagon Allison was on. The driver of the wagon tugged on the horses' reigns, giving the horses the signal to start moving. Danielle: Kyaaa haa ha ha ha ha! Another one trying to bargain. Stingle watched the carriage move away. He then turned and looked at Danielle. Stingle: I think that's enough. Danielle: Aw, you're no fun. Danielle held onto the whip with both of her hands, which both started to glow. She pulled the whip, and actually spun Ark in the air once. The whip released Ark, allowing him to crash back over at the hill. Danielle: Oh, darn. I didn't get to toss him over the cliff. I guess I forgot I'm not all about muscle. She started walking with the rest of the soldiers. Danielle: Oh, I think I broke a nail.. Meanwhile, Phaere pushed Lily into the ground, which was already turning a bit muddy. Phaere didn't bother to turn her head to look at Sigmund to glance at him with her glowing eyes, but her pointy ears did twitch. Phaere: Be seeing you.. 'Old' Man. |

| Danielle: ... You may be wearing that over your face, but I can tell you're smirking about something.
Phaere's ears twitched a bit. Phaere: Just remembering something funny about vermin barking at prissy princesses. Danielle quirked a brow but said nothing else. Phaere stopped momentarily. She suddenly realized something. Danielle: What's wrong? Phaere's ears started to grow a color, which easily stood out with her skin being all dark and such. Phaere: N-nothing. ----------------- Lily tried to wipe the mud that got on her face. She eventually looked up to see Ark walking towards her while the army behind him was walking away. Lily: I.. um.. Are you ok? Lily stood up, staggering slightly. Her hands started to glow as she took a step towards Ark. Lily: I've got some healing power.. Atleast let me help a bit.. ----------------- Clara: Come to think of it.. I think I did see the duct by Southern Light. It's like.. a very short, round platform that stucks up from the ground... I'm no good with anything very mechanical, so I didn't bother trying it out. lHow would you know where a duct is? Lucas: Actually, I've been working on something that searches for ducts. Lucas pulls out a small, rectangular object, with an ome and a thin rod attached to it. Lucas: This is the first time I've actually tested it, but if my theory is correct, this specific type of ome, which is also powering the device, should resonate if we're in the remote area of a duct, whereas it would normally react if it was actually touching the duct. Clara: Hey, it's lighting up! Lucas: Fantastic. This seems to be the brightest thing of all day, no pun intended. (edited by Kirbynite on 03-09-06 04:34 PM) |

Ark stood on the hill and watched the army go. "I have to kill the all. With Arminas dead and the group to far behind to know what happened, I have to. Lily, it will be dangerous, I won't blame you if you don't want to come. I'm not sure I'll be comfortable taking you to your death." Ark stepped away from Lily and stood at the top center of the hill. He thrusted his arm straight down into the ground and grabbed something. He ripped a stone spear from the ground and hurled it as hard as he could so it would go in front of the army. His promise to fight them. |

| The horses were a bit spooked from the spear appearing out of nowhere infront of them. The carriage momentarily stopped until the driver directed the horses around it. Gregorious's eyes narrowed a bit as the carriage moved by the spear.
Gregorious: Seems like we might be having fun in a few days... ----------------------- Lily: .... Lily looked at the ground. Words didn't seem to come out of her mouth. She looked up and took a deep breath. Lily: Ally's got the Everlight. If I give up now, all this time I've spent searching would've gone to waste. Lily started to walk slowly down the hill. Lily: I don't know about you, but I'd prefer to do some mingling at the town. Someone might know something about these guys that'll give us an edge on them, you know? ---------------------- Lucas looked around in some nearby shrubbery. He pushed aside the plants, and explosed an unusual mechcanical device mounted in the ground. Lucas: Here we go. Clara: Wow... So... Um.. How do we use it? Lucas: First off.. Lucas kneels beside the object, and presses a few buttons. The object begins to give a low hum. Lucas: We turn it on. And then, you step on it. Just try and think clearly of what the surroundings look like, Southern Light for instance, and step onto it. The casing will rise up, and you'll be transported to the duct of your destination. Clara: I see... Clara was trying her best not to be the first one to actually use the thing. |

Sigmund toddled over to the armored warrior, and placed a wrinkled hand on his shoulder. "Ah... I'm sorry, I jus'... I froze up, back there when they threw tha kid off the cliff... I may be old, but I ain't so good wit' seein' people I know die." He cast his eyes downward, and his face fell. "'An I know it's hippacriticul of me ta say that, what wit' all tha people I've taken out in me years..." He approached Lily, trying to help her clean herself up. "Yeh're all messed up... This ain't no time fer an old coot like me ta be jokin' 'round. We'd best git back ta town. Lily's got herself a good point. S'likely that we're gonna need more information 'bout that army 'afore we can take 'em on." He started walking along the mountain path. From here it was through the fields to the southwest and a few hours' walk to Southern Light. He beckoned for Ark and Lily to follow. He may be old, he thought, but he knew the way. "'An unfortunately fer you two and me, I know just the two people to ask..." 'Those doofuses'll know jus' what we wanna know, if'n me thoughts're right. | Lily let out a big sigh. She looked up in the air. "Master would probably laughing at me for looking so pathetic right now."
Lily: Okay! We've got a plan now! Operation Kick Butt is underway! Lily was slowly letting her carefree attitude slip out. No sense in moping the entire way through. Lily: ... Oh.. but.. Can sleeping at the inn be a part of the plan? ------------------- Lucas: Fine. It seems you're all so hesitant. Lucas stepped onto the small platform, and instantly vanished. Clara: Whoa!  Ahum... I.. I guess I'll go next.
Clara slowly stepped onto platform. She closed her eyes, and quietly muttered "Southern Light." Clara felt like something was thrown over her head, and pulled her beneath the earth. Clara immediately opened her eyes. She realized she was standing just outside the entrance of Southern Light. Clara: Oh, thank goodness... |

Sigmund: "Ya follow me! C'mon, ah'll get us in the inn fer free anyways... I know the 'keeper, helped him get rid of a rat problem in 'is basement once..." He turned back towards the path to Southern Light, and prepared himself for a montage of walking. |

------------------ As soon as Cassandra and Sky went through the teleporter.. Lucas: It's been a long day, so we should all call it a day, finally. If you can, I would like to see all of you in the morning to speak about something very important concerning the army. I have to check up on somethings for now. Clara: Understood. I'll come by tomorrow. Lucas: Oh, and if you two *looks at Sky and Cassandra* don't have a place to stay, you're more than welcome to stay for a while at my house. It's the large house west of the commercial district. The door should be open, so you're free to enter. |

Lucas: Anyways.. Sky, I assure you that our inn does not have any sneaky dealings. If they did, I will personally attend to the matter. Though, I have to say, I'm amazed I haven't heard of anything since there's a bar underneath it... Lucas started to walk slowly. Lucas: As for your question, Cassandra, no one really knows. It was here when the island was first discovered fifteen years ago. You can imagine the sort of chaos that ensued when the ducts was first found, though.. |

| Lucas: The ancient language left behind is still being deciphered. That and how dangerous it is to wander very far is what has probably slowed down progress. Of course, a thing like that won't really slow down adventurers and treasure hunters.
Lucas stopped walking for a moment when they reached an intersection. Lucas: Straight ahead is the central plaza, with a nicely constructed fountain. If you take the road over there, you'll my house. Now.. do you have any quick questions that can't wait for later? ----------------- Lily: Hey! Look! Drenchy, doesn't that look familar?! Lily was pointing at some random location over by the mountain ranges that they've almost cleared. Lily: Look! Look! It's where.. Um.. Where you first used a duct! To go to the Crystal Forest, remember? We can take this to get back to the village! |
