| Ark grabbed his spear and changed direction, back towards Sky and Lily. With a violent action, Ark grabbed Sky, pushed him down the hill sending him rolling, and then smoothly grabbed Lily and started running.
"We don't have time to waste, right!" Ark actually spoke to Lily like she wasn't a kid. He ran past the entire group, leaving them all to wonder what he was doing, when he jammed his spear into the ground, smiled and ran off carrying Lily on his back. Almost instantly the spear flashed and a huge, very thick looking, crystal wall blocked off the path that Arminas had asked about. "I hope you don't mind scaling the 30 foot wall, it reflects Ome magic!" Ark yelled at the top of his lungs as he ran down the path. "Think I was smooth enough Lily?" |

| Lily: Veeery smooth. I'm sure those guys don't need our help anyway.
Lily turned her head to look at the crystal wall. Lily: Man! That was so awesome! She gave Ark a big hug in her girlish delight. Lily: I guess that means you really are an ome user! She points a finger in the direction Ark was already running in. Lily: Onward! We can't let the Everlight get away! ------------------- Clara: A diamond ome user?! Lucas growled as he held out two glowing hands. Lucas: It's too late to worry about that now. We're trapped here with those soldiers. Clara ran infront of Cassandra and Lucas, while brandishing her sword. The remaining soldiers were marching towards them, wanting retribution for the fallen soldiers. Clara: While I do not like the situation we have been left with, I do not intend to die here. |

Ark tried to go faster, he knew with Allison, Arminas wouldn't be able to go that fast, in fact, they should be able to catch up to them soon. Easily within an hour or two. "...but you know, if we run back into everyone, they won't be forgiving us that easily, and you're going to have to take care of any monsters that try to attack us until I can find enough energy to recreate a spear." "I hope you don't regret this Lily, I won't be here much longer than a few weeks tops, you'll be spending the rest of your life here... hopefully they'll forgive you though. You just looked like you were kidnapped after all..." "If we run into any of them, I kidnapped you for your information on the Everlight, trust me, it'll be easier that way." |

| Lily: Ah.. I wouldn't worry about them. I wasn't planning on hanging around this island after finding the Everlight, anyway. Just a wish or two, and I'll be back on the mainland, like nothing ever happened.
She giggled. Lily: Ah, don't worry about any monsters. You saw how I took care of that crystal wall back at the forest! Piece of cake. Worst comes to worst, I'll just landslide them right off. ---------------------- Allison: Arminas... Was it okay for us to do that? Arminas: We need to keep moving. Allison: But we could've atleast thanked them.. Arminas: If we stuck around to do that, it'd be that much harder for us to leave. Look, a group of people are easier to find. With just the two of us, we can move more easily. -------------------- Lucas looked behind him. The crystal wall was a definite annoyance. No way to just walk around it, thanks to the cliff. Was it really ome resistant? Probably not to an iron ome user, which he wasn't. Clara was currently taking on the soldiers by sending shockwaves at them. The soldiers were easily evading the shockwaves, but whenever one would get within range, Clara would twist around their attacks and knock them away with a quick shoulder ram and sword swinging motion, quite similar to swinging a baseball bat. |

| Sigmund: "Rexious..."
There was an explosive burst of rock and dirt alongside Ark as a small, man-shaped meteor collided with the ground beside him and skidded into the mountain path. The explosion kicked rubble left and right, and sent trees in its path bending off to the side... "....Strike!!!" Emergent from the dust was an old man, running with both arms flailing behind him and easily keeping pace with Ark's downhill dash. The amount of dirt caked around his sandals suggested that the delivery of the meteoresque kick was directly from the feeble old man himself, but this would, of course, be entirely contrary to his earlier provisions of strength... He prepared to do another devastating attack, when he noticed that Lily was not only on Ark's back, but actually willingly clinging to it. Between huffing breaths (he was still old, after all...), he tried to speak to Ark. "...Eh? What... Kinda... Kidnappin'... Is this?" |

| Lily freaked out when she heard the rush of rock falling nearby. When she turned her head to see the source, she was less than amused.
Lily spoke in a partially deep, annoyed voice. Lily: 'Hoy. Go away, Gramps. Lily suddenly realized that the old man was actually keeping up with Ark. Lily: Hey! What's this about you being too old to be moving ahead?! You seem as spry as Drenchy! |

Ark didn't turn to look at the old man as he kept running. "So how did you even get here? I was far past everyone when I put up that wall, and there was no other way around, can you fly or something?" Ark leaped up over a log that was in the way, he noticed a shred of cloth on the ground. "This is the right way, good." |

| Sigmund: "Not fly, no, laddie..."
He stopped short for a few seconds, and then suddenly leapt several tens of feet in the air, landing gracefully next to Ark, still running alongside him. "But I CAN do that! And trust me, yer wall ain't much in the face of people like me, an' yer runnin' ain't much in the face of feet like mine. I ain't what I seems to ya. An' if'n yeh can steal this Everlight thing, maybe yeh can help me steal somethin', too..." He somehow slapped Ark upside the head as he continued the run... "An' I can't be 'avin' yeh teach the girl all the wrong stuff! She could be a master someday, an' I ain't fixin' to 'ave 'er get no shoddy teachins!" |

| Lily was amazed to see the old man even bounding like he did. However, her response wasn't really showing any amazement.
Lily: Hey hey hey! Don't slap people around for no reason! We don't need anyone distracting us now! --------------------------- The clouds in the sky became more and more ominous as thunder echoed throughout the mountain range. Arminas: It's them! A large fleet of soldiers seemed to have appeared out of nowhere around the corner of the mountain path. Infront of the soldiers were the three commanders. One of them was the woman with the horned helm, Danielle. Besides her was a man clad in black armor, with brown, spiked hair hanging off the black mask he was wearing. The third commander was garbed a bit more comfortable clothing, but seemed to have a bit of an assassin's touch, with the scarf and the cloth covering the lower half of her darkskinned face. Danielle: It's about time. You had us waiting for quite a while. I take it that's the Linnara with you. Allison: Soldiers in red?! Arminas, these people, they're-- Arminas: The same ones who attacked the village three years ago. |

| Sigmund's mad dash down the mountain suddenly stopped short, as he ignored Lily's comment for the moment and focused his eyes on the red-garbed soldiers ahead of him.
Sigmund: "No... No, it can't be them again, can it...?" His mind flashed back to images of snapped necks and battered and bruised soldiers. If they were up ahead... He doubled his pace and began to surpass Ark and Lily. "There ain't no time to lose! That's the Red Ribbon Division of the Army of Cruninidad! The ones 'oo attacked us all when we were back at that damn Rufus' place! If that's them, then the beefstack 'n 'is sis ain't far behind!" (edited by Grey on 03-09-06 02:33 AM) |

| Arminas heard some footsteps from behind. He turned around, and saw more soldiers pouring in.
Arminas: They're behind us, too! Arminas pulled Allison over to the mountain wall, and stood infront of the girl. Danielle slowly walked towards Arminas. Danielle: You slipped away from us at the bandits' lair. But you WON'T get away this time. Kyaaa ha ha ha haaaa! Allison: No.... Arminas: Dammit! |

Ark seemed to suddenly get faster as he caught up with the Sigmund. "We can't fight them though, we need to take the steathy approach." Ark started to move a little to the side, running straight down the path didn't seem like such a good idea. |

| Sky knew he didn't have much time as Clara and Lucas could only hang on for so long, and he rushed to the wall. Placing his hand onto the immense piece of crystal, he concentrated. The magewarrior's hand glowed as the soldiers ran at him.
And then they stopped as the wall began to vibrate, and then shatter. The shards of crystal swept around Sky into the path of the oncoming soldiers, shredding the ones in the lead. The magewarrior turned around and faced the rest. Sky: Who's next? There weren't that many of them left; after all, this was a scout force, not a whole division, and Clara had proven surprisingly effective. Cassandra had taken a position behind Lucas, trying to avoid combat. |

| Lily clinged a little harder onto Ark. The speed that they were moving in was almost too much for her to handle.
Lily: If we gotta be, like, stealthy, then why are you two running this fast? 
----------------------- Lucas took the opportunity to strike down a soldier with a bolt of lightning while they were distracted by Sky's performance. Lucas immediately stopped with the lightning attacks as soon as rain started to pour. Lucas: So much for that. Clara: Ugh.. I hate the rain. ----------------------- The woman in the assassin's clothes stepped forward. The first thing Arminas noticed was the pointed ears she had. Phaere: It seems you know what happened three years ago. Perhaps you're even the one who led her away. Arminas: And if I was? Danielle: So it was you... I'm impressed you managed to evade us all this time. Phaere: You have good instincts. I'll give you that much. The other day, too, right when we finally had you, you suddenly disappeared. Allison: Arminas... Is that why you took me out to sea with you? Arminas: Yeah.. I know how seawater's like poison to you.. but.. I didn't have any other choice. Danielle: And now it seems your luck has run out. To think you'd wind up on Neo Grape Gardens, of all places! The man in the black armor cleared his throat loudly. Stingle: Save your gloating until the mission is complete. Danielle: Hmph. Phaere simply shrugged. Danielle: Alright then, boy. Your move. Will you hander her over qui-- Arminas: Go to hell. All at once, the three commanders took their own fighting positions. Stingle held up his sword, Phaere pulled out two unusual blades that curved around her arms from her hands, while Danielle stretched her whip between her hands. Phaere: So you want to fight. Well then, all the more fun for us. Arminas held up his own fists, both of which were glowing already. Allison: Arminas, no! Arminas let out a growl as he lunged at Danielle. Unfortunately, the young berserker was slashed across the chest by Phaere's blades. Arminas stumbled backwards, and was launched into the air by an eruption of fire set off by Danielle. "Damn... To late..." Ark wasn't sure of what to do, he couldn't fight and expect to win, he could only run. |

Lily: Hey.. wha.. what's going on over there? 
Lily squinted her eyes, seeing nothing but a bunch of soldiers in red. She then saw Arminas and Allison. Lily: Whuh oh.. Um... I'm thinking that this situation's kinda.. over us, isn't it? --------------------- Allison rushes over to Arminas. She lost her footing on the wet ground and stumbled ontop of Arminas. Allison: Arminas! Get up! Danielle: That was fast. ???: What a waste of time. He's so pathetic it's comical. Danielle: ...! Hail Commander Gregorious All at once, the soldiers lined up, stood up straight, and held their right arms across their chest. A very large man, with well defined muscles bulging from his red and black armor stepped out infront of the army. Arminas stood up slightly. Arminas: ... Gregorious? In that instant, a bolt of lightning struck far above, highlighting the smug face on Gregorious' carved head. Gregorious: So.. you're a true Linnara. Arminas: Allison... run.. Allison: I.. I can't just leave you.. |

| The good news was there were only a few soldiers left. The bad news was that one of these was the commander of the force, and not to be taken lightly. The man carried a polearm of sorts, and stood taller than the rest. He approached Sky.
Commander: You may have taken out most of my soldiers, but you will not deal with me so easily. Sky: Bring it. The elite soldier took several swings, which the magewarrior avoided. The next time, he wasn't so lucky, and caught the blow with his sword before being tossed almost to the edge of the cliff, his sword left behind. The commander approached Sky, who was getting up from the ground, and stood before him. The magewarrior's hand glowed as he fired off a small fire blast, which bounced off the commander's armor. Commander: I've been hunting ome users for years now...do you think I would be that unprepared? Sky: Perhaps not for more unorthodox methods. The magewarrior rushed at the commander, who swung his weapon, but hit nothing but air as Sky dove to his side. His hand glowed as he placed it on the commander's back. Before the soldier could react, his armor had started to vibrate violently, as had the crystal wall. He let out a wail of pain as he fell to the ground, clutching his chest, as smoke seemed to spew from his armor. The surviving soldiers, seeing this, took their leave. Cassandra: I...suppose that takes care of that problem. |

After the rest of the soldiers ran off, Clara walked over to the commanding officer, and held her sword infront of him. Clara: Why have you been sent to find us? The soldier was unable to speak as he was still in pain. Lucas: I don't know what Sky did to him, but it doesn't seem like he's going to speak up. I believe I may know the answer to this. Their target was Allison. Clara: What? Well, I guess that explains the situation. Lucas: If he does not intend to speak after we've taken him into custody, I suppose I can probably explain a little more. ------------------ Gregorious: You've given us an awful lot of trouble. But it ends here. Allison runs infront of Gregorious, holding out her arms in a Lemmings Blocking pose. Gregorious: What do you think you're doing? Allison: I'm the one you want, right? If that's the case, I'll go with you. Arminas: Allison! What're you saying?! Allison: Just please, leave my brother alone! Arminas managed to muster the strength to get up, unfortunately, his body didn't have enough feeling to let him stand up. Arminas: Allison.. Stop... It's no use talking to them. Gregorious let out a cackle that lasted about ten seconds Allison: Why.. are you laughing? Gregorious: You didn't think twice about sacrificing yourself to save another. You really are just like your sister. Another bolt of lightning struck nearby. Allison shrieked as she soon found herself being slapped into the ground by Gregorious calused hand. Arminas finally managed to get up to his feet. Arminas: Allison! Stop it, Gregorious! Phaere: Quit your whining. In the blink of an eye, Phaere ran up to Arminas and grabbed him by the neck. Phaere then lifted him up and chokeslammed him into the ground. Arminas: Ugh.. Allison: Arm..inas.. |

The soldier lifted himself onto his hands and looked up at Clara. Through the small open part of the front of his helmet, she could see something of a smile. He spoke roughly, and with difficulty. Commander: Heh...they must already...*cough*...have the girl if she went that way. But you'll never...never take me. And that girl...*points at Cassandra*...is already doomed. The soldier quickly thrust his arm at Clara, hitting the side of her sword and sending her backwards, before propelling himself down off the side of the cliff. Sky: Wait, what about--- The magewarrior ran to the side, and saw nothing below but the waves crashing against the rocks. Cassandra: There's no way he could have survived that...but what did he mean about me? Sky: He was strong...and if he already knew you, there may have been more to this than just a group sent for Allison. Who are you, really?! Cassandra was taken aback, and stepped away from the magewarrior, whose face now bore a somewhat disturbing look. Cassandra: I...I don't know what you mean, I don't know who that was, I just...I don't remember...I'm sorry... Sky's face softened as he walked up to Cassandra and embraced her as she began to sob. Sky: I'm sorry, it's been quite a day for everyone. |

| Lucas: ... I suppose he explained the portion I didn't know.
Clara: Well, what do we do now? Lucas: We should start heading down. Clara: But.. this path.. Didn't he.. Lucas: If there really is someone waiting down for us, it's best if we move down the mountain and use the trees as cover. If we stay up here, we're basically sitting ducks. Or we may run into an undiscovered duct and just warp to Southern Light. -------------- Gregorious: Here's your reward for trying to bargain with me, Linnara. Gregorious snapped his fingers. Allison: S-Stop! Phaere grabbed Arminas's head, and dragged him onto his feet. Arminas: Allison... Allison: No! Gregorious let out another cackle as Phaere tossed off the side of the mountain. Another flash of light went off, accompanied by thunder. Danielle: Well well.. Looks like that was a bit too much for her. Phaere: Aw, the poor thing's passed out. Gregorious: All that matters is that she's alive.... heh heh heh heh... Finally, the Linnara is mine! The first phase of the operation is complete. We will commence phase two at once.
