This guy managed to beat Super Mario 64, from start to finish, in only 16 minutes with 16 stars. This was me when I saw this video => and parts of it continue to amaze me no matter how many times I watch it.

1. Old

2. Not that amazing, especially once you see it, then try it, then realized how simple it is, then do it yourself.

?

You can play that game the way that guy can? I can't. Then again, Mario 64 was never really a favorite of mine.

I don't think that rabbit trick is a big deal. I'm impressed with all of the awesome flips and wall-kicks he does and stuff. I never invested time into that game aside from getting 120 stars, so...

3. Time attacks suck

4. You don't need emulator tools to do this

Rerecord cound: 26109

All you need to see to know that that guy is in fact terrible at the game. He had to do stuff over over twenty-five thousand times because it wasn't quite perfect. Maybe 1000 rerecords would be reasonable but then you also remember he was doing much of this frame-by-frame and still had that much trouble... TIMES SO MUCH MORE...

How anyone can find this impressive, I'll never know.

Nesvideos

This site is dedicated to trying to produce entertaining tool-assisted movies.

By the way, it's very easy to mess up and rerecord. For example, doing a Zelda 4 glitch speed run got me over 1,200... and that was only for four minutes.

Try reading the site, especially the FAQ.

I have read the FAQ and I have seen that site. Somehow, the prospect of seeing what is possible with perfect reflexes and without human error doesn't entertain me. I just find the videos too boring to watch. That's why I prefer normal speed runs.

Meh, you have to remember that it's harder to get it perfect in 3D games than 2D games. Besides this is a rather long run... so yeah. Though there's probasbly alot room for improvment there.

No most impressive time attack (or rather, TAS) I've seen to date would be...

This Sonic Advance 2 one...

Oh, wow, do I feel dumb. I didn't even realize that guy used save-states or heck-whatever else. I thought he was just playing it straight up. WOW. I feel stupid.

But when I do see stuff like that that's genuine, I wet myself.

Uh...he was playing it straight up.

The only difference from a non-assisted time attack and what you saw was that they used emulator slowdowns and re-records to increase their accuracy to the highest point they possibly can. It's not a hack, it's really a legit run and possible if someone could humanly pull it off.

I don't much see how it could possibly be considered legit when you're using things outside of the game to do it. Is it theoretically possible to make a legit run exactly like this? Yes. Is this a legit run? No.

I need to record myself then. After watching it I did a speedrun of it, took me roughly 22 minutes with the 16 stars.

Well, as you know, the fastest recorded speed run for 16 stars is 19 minutes and 47 seconds, so that isn't that bad of a time, Kiraxo. You'll still need to improve though if you want to join the big leagues. If you try hard enough, you could be able to get near the 18 minute mark, so it's best that you turn to the boards on SDA for advice.

Oh and by the way, even with this I'm still seeing problems with this video. He could've done it better had he executed certain long jumps faster, for instance.

Once, I saw a time attack where some dude played through the Japanese edition of SMB3 for NES in 11 minutes. This person was blazing through the levels without taking damage or losing lives. He also mastered the combo attack method(where you stomp several baddies in a row without touching the ground). I remember thinking, "That's not humanly possible." I don't have the kind of reflexes to do that.
