Hikari was in disbelief of what she had just witnessed. She had heard stories of people being this talented, deep down she wanted to believe it, but this was the first time she actually saw something like the poetry in motion she had seen above her.

Mitra: Oh, why thank you, suh!

However, Hikari wasn't greeting Nova, Nijote, and Mitra's return to the ground with a smile. Instead she was actually walking away, quickly.

Nova's ice attributed kick really did a number on Mule Joe. So much, that the biggoron lost his concentration on tiny structure he was standing on. Mule Joe fell off the structure, which gave Hikari the signal to kick it into high gear.

Mule Joe fell face first onto the cracked ground. Unfortunately, he didn't stop falling. The force of his massive hide caused the ground to crumble. Everything in the area started to fall inside the mountain side, even the mining catwalks. The hole was so big that only someone with a Roc's Feather could've bounded out in time.

Unfortunately, Hikari didn't have such a thing.

Hikari opens her eyes a few minutes later. A cough escaped her mouth as she sat up, moving a few rocks off of her body. There was a faint glow lighting up the cavern she had fallen into.

Hikari: What... happened...? Why is it so... hot?

Hikari's tired eyes wandered around. She was on a very large platform, perhaps a good 40 yards wide. Around the platform was a nice moat of lava.

Hikari: Hooeee... Ah.. Did anyone else fall in? Is everyone alright?

Mule Joe was not found anywhere, but the mining structure, atleast its remains was found scattered around on the ground.

Nijote: "I'm here, but not all right."

Nijote's voice was strained as she held her left foot. She tried to stand up, and ended up on just her right foot to the ground.

Nijote: "I fell to fast and landed before the rocks, I guess I couldn't dodge them all... My ankle is sprained."

Nijote looked down at the ground and noticed a long metal bar. She used it like a cane and slowly walked over to Hikari. She winced with every step.

Nova: The good news is that Mitra got to safety.

The dust had cleared, and the ground up to the top where the mining structure had been was more easily reachable. Sabor leaned over the top, the original kidnapper still draped over him, and Mitra riding slightly in front of the unconscious body. Nova looked up and smiled at his mount.

Sabor: Mrrrrrrrrrrrr?

Nova: The bad news is that I was barely able to throw her to safety before I fell down here myself. Now, I've got some talent, but I can't fly. And really, I'm sorry about this. I really am. I know I said the bigger they are, the harder they fall, but I didn't think he'd fall THAT hard...

Nova: Well, good, now I don't feel so bad about it.

Nova walked over to Nijote.

Nova: That's a pretty bad limp you've got there. Are you sure you're going to be alright going on?

Nijote: "I've had worse, I just hope we can find a place to rest. If we stay down here to long, we might start roasting."

Nijote looked around for some sort of an exit, going up would be to hard. She could throw a knife up to the top, and have Mitra or Sabor hold onto it while they climbed up, but she wasn't sure if it'd break under Nova's weight. It was made by her, supposed to only be used by her.

At that moment, Nova spotted something out of the corner of his eye. It seemed to be...a tunnel?

Nova: It's hot down here, but there seems to be something over there. We can leave now if you want, since Mitra's in some danger on her own, but we need to check that out. They were mining here for a reason.

Hikari: Whatever the case, we're gonna have to deal with goin' over the lava..

There was a soft rumble echoing about, mixing in with molten bubbling noises. All of a sudden, a large, dragon-like being spewed out of the lava. It flew through the air with great, leaping bounds, propelling itself by flaming wings that protrude from its back like spears from hell. Every jet of white-hot death that erupts from its mouth scorches all that it touches. Forests have died beneath its heat. Entire lakes have been reduced to dried up holes in the ground with a single breath. They call it Volvagia.

Hikari: That description seemed mighty fishy! I haven't heard of no lakes 'round these parts.

.... A firery, beast flies out of the lava. It roars, breathes fire, and looks pissed. There's a broken sign laying around saying something about "Beware of Valoo", but Hikari couldn't decipher the ancient looking text.

Hikari: That sounds a bit better. Ahem.. Eek! Everyone look alive!

Nijote: "You have got to be kidding me."

Nijote looked around for some possible cover, but all that was around was some rocks and some extra metal. Nijote reached into her cloak and brought out a glowing blue vial of liquid. She hurled it at the beat, knowing that it would make the dragon chill out.

Nova smiled dryly before diving behind a rock and tossing some ice shards towards the beast in the hopes of doing something to aid Nijote's own mixture.

Nova: Looking alive may be difficult if this dragon does too much more...

The dragon dived onto one side of the platform, evading the icey shards and vial that were aimed at it. It planted all four legs onto the "ground", giving it a slight quake. Magma was slowly trickling off the beast's scales and piling around as it lumbered towards the group.

Farid: That's a mighty fine beast, there.

Hikari: No kidding. I'm amazed it was able to move like that.

Hikari looked to her side nearly fell into the lava moat. The kidnapper that Nova had taken out earlier was crouched besides Hikari.

Hikari: Whoa! But.. You.. I.. You're supposed to have been like..

Farid: Dunno if he was aimin' to kill meh or make meh sleep, but them tricks don't work too long on someone like me.

Hikari: .... Wait wait wait! Since when did we find out your name, mister?

Farid: !!

Hikari: That's right. I've got them captions on.

Farid: Uh... Dunno. Ye gotta problem with it?

Hikari: I appreciate formal introductions.

Farid: Very well then. Me na--

Hikari: Except I'm not caring anythin' about you, ya under-handed--

The dragon let out another roar, in which both Hikari and Farid glared at the dragon.

Hikari & Farid: Shut up!

Of course the dragon didn't take this sitting down. Its throat expanded, putting some special organs to work. A steam of fire was set loose, sending Hikari and Farid to duck out of the way of the attack.

Hikari: Hey, ya kooky folk! Got any bright ideas on how to get out of this?

Johnathan: "EASY!"

Dropping down from the ceiling after losing his footing on the climb up, Johnathan heroically sailed down to where the group was on yet another large shard of ice... All of this lava made for a good bit of humidity that he could work with, which he did to great effect.

He sent his ice board into the flames, which blasted the platform to steam in seconds...

"Fire beats ice..."

Johnathan grinned as the steam spread outward, nearly as hot as the flames themselves. He skidded along the ground and towards the dragon's firey breath, which he drew the cloud of water vapor towards, with intent to mask the flames and put a bit of a damper on the dragon's rage.

"But water beats fire!"

Stopping just in front of Hikari and Farid, Johnathan's duster came within inches of the existing fire, and he felt the heat of the breath on his face. Beads of sweat rolled over his forehead as he pushed his glasses up his nose...

"Did you miss me, Miss Hikari?"

Nova: What you said earlier gave me something of an idea, actually...

Nova reached inside his cloak and again withdrew his hammer. He rushed at the dragon and bonked it on the head.

Nova: Ha ha!

But of course, this did little more than make Volvagia angry, and Nova found him quickly thrown into a nearby rock, inches from the edge of the platform.

Nova: Or....not.

Nijote: "Fire evaporates water if you took the time to remember."

Nijote was hidding behind a rather large sheet of metal that had fallen into the hole with them. It at least seemed better than the rocks, although it was to hot to touch.

Hikari grabbed Johnny and pulled him onto the ground.

Hikari: I reckon I don't, seeing as how you and that guy just pissed the dragon off even more.

The cloud of water vapors had caused the dragon's flames to flicker a bit. However, since the water vapors weren't coming in at a constant rate, as well as being vapors, they just formed more steam in the area.

Mitra: Oh, just be nice to it! Ah'm sure it'll understand!

Hikari turned her head to look over where Mitra was.

Hikari: You preachin' on about the Ultimate Battle Strategy in a time like this?!

Nova jumps behind the sheet of metal where Nijote's hiding and glares at Hikari.

Nova: Well, do you have a better idea, or are we just going to sit here until he knocks us into the lava?

Even though Nijote's sleeves would have problems fitting anything but a few playing cards in.

Hikari looks at Nova and then at Mitra.

Hikari: Fine then! If none-a-ya'll gonna do it, I'll do it myself.

Mitra: Oh, Ah'm so proud of you, Miss Hikari.

Farid: That's it, lass! Go and do it!

Hikari: Shut up, you. You don't even know what I'm talkin' about.

The red head stood up, and took a deep breath, despite how hot it went down into her lungs. She held up her arms, with wide open hands. She then slowly approached the dragon.

Hikari: Easy there, big boy. Nothin's gonna happen, see?

Mitra: C'mon, Miss Hikari! Big smah-le!

Hikari: Eh heh.. um..

Hikari tried to think of the pleasant feeling of drinking Chateau Romani. She was eventually able to pull out a smile, but she was still a bit nervous in producing it.

Mitra: There ya go!

Hikari took another step towards the dragon, when it reared its head back. Hikari noticed the movements in its throat, and immediately ran back to where she was.

Hikari: I couldn't do it!

She lunged at the ground just in time to avoid a ball of fire hocked over her.

Johnathan: "If you two refuse to take action, I will! Miss Hikari, watch yourself!"

A jet of flames passed by Johnathan's head as he rose up, an even hotter fire in his cold, blue eyes. The steam that blasted out of the evaporating sheet of ice quickly sucked towards Johnathan, and he formed a long, frozen pole which he held out in front of him before tossing off a one-liner...

"You, dragon, are about to be knocked out cold!"

Johnathan took off in a wind sprint towards the winged beast, jamming his ice pole into the ground and vaulting himself into the air. The pole thinned and extended, lifting Johnathan way up high... As he slowed in his ascent, Johnathan whipped the pole upward and more steam from the lava formed around him.

Time almost seemed to slow down as the pole transformed into a gigantic truncheon, further amplified in size and mass by the rapidly rising steam that circulated around Johnathan's body. Holding himself in the air with a blizzard's wind, Johnathan took the truncheon and hurled it downward, straight at the dragon's neck!

"Shotgun Ice!!!"

He fell towards the ground behind the dragon and dropped into a roll, signaling to Nijote and Nova.

"Come on, you two! Do not just stand around! There is much more to be done to this beast!"

Nijote: "I... don't like him..."

Nijote jumped from behind the sheet of metal throwing daggers at the dragon, trying to aim as best she could for the eyes.
