Two weeks passed and it happened again. The brutal attack on North America was thought to be dispelled by the American and, to a lesser extent, the Canadian military. We all believed that the attack was all there was, but, just as a boxer takes "feeler hits", that assault was only the first wave. The vampire babies were back and there was one under my rug. Tony Parsons said that the best way to do away with these godless creatures was to bash it over the head with a chair. Sure enough, I gripped my dining room chair and, like a person jumps reluctantly off a diving board at full speed, I reluctantly hit it over the head with all my strength. I looked under the rug and saw nothing but ashes. Is there anything Tony Parsons doesn't know? With a sigh a relief, I put down the remains of my poor chair. It kind of looked up at me asking me why I would destroy it like that, so I promised I would fix it later and ran to the basement.

There was only one way in or out of the basement, so I took all the useless junk my wife used to accumulate and used it to barricade the door. I carefully checked to see if there was a vampire baby hiding in a shadow or under a piece of furniture, but there was none to be found. I sat down, relaxed a bit, then found myself drifting off to sleep.

I woke up to the sound of high-pitched giggles and loud ominous banging. I saw that the barricade that I formed shook with every startling crash. "They found me," I thought and rushed to find a baseball bat. I found it lurking in the shadows, not wanting to be found. I picked it up with both hands and held it like a major league baseball player stepping up to the plate in the last inning. The vampire babies were becoming more frantic to suck my blood. Finally, they used their laser beam eyes to blast through the door. There were ten of them. All staring at me with their evil, protruding, red eyes. I sprung into action and struck one of the babies in the head with my bat. Another of the babies shot one of its teeth into my back and electricity coursed through my body. I fell over and the world fell into oblivion. The babies had won.

"And in other news, Dr. Samuel J Thompson was reported to have been disturbing the peace in his residing neighborhood. When police arrived on the scene, they found Dr. Thompson screaming about "vampire babies". Suspecting that Thompson might be psychotic, they called for backup. When backup arrived, they broke into the house and found the beaten remains of Dr. Thompson's toy poodle. When police broke through Dr. Thompson's barricade blocking the basement door, Thompson struck and killed Officer Terry Daniels in the head with a metal baseball bat. Thompson was quickly captured by police and is now undergoing psychological assessment. Neighbors say that Thompson had been acting oddly ever since the death of his wife, three months ago."

Very very creepy, like something off of "The Twilight Zone". Quite disturbing to one weak of mind and heart.

I like this a lot!

lol thanks! I wrote it in my Writing 12 class. The teacher gave us a bunch of pictures and told us to write something on one of them. I wrote mine on this one: http://hrsbstaff.ednet.ns.ca/davidc/6c_files/documents/mysteries/underrug.htm

When I first saw it, I thought: "That's a baby!" and the insanity grew from there.
