Hikari: She gets kidnapped that much, and she still tries to heal them darned thugs.

She had jumped back onto her horse She gave out a little sigh while she gave the horse a little pet.

Hikari: Come on, guys. I reckon it'd be a better idea for us to get to Mitra before the other two. I don't like their tones...

The new kidnapper was already out of the city limits. And due to that, there wasn't anywhere for him to hide in. That is, unless you cound the mountain in the distance.

Nijote's mare seemed to speed up and started to rapidly close the gap. In fact, in a few moments, Nijote would catch up with the bandit.

Nijote: "Grrr... If I attack the horse she might get crushed... and I attack the bandit he might drop her... damnit..."

Nijote had, in fact, reached the distance behind the horse that Nova had been occupying for a little bit now. As the sabrecat ran along, the rogue turned to her.

Nova: Exactly. Glad you're here, though, I was wondering myself what to do and those clowns back there probably wouldn't be much help. If we don't want to wait for him to stop, we could always do a coordinated attack. Since you don't seem much able to save anyway, why don't you do the killing and I'll get the girl?

The mountain in the distance began to look clearer to Hikari. The peak of the Stairway to Hell seemed to want to scrape the sky. There was a ring of clouds around the top of the mountain, but since Hell's part of the name, Hikari assumed it was some sort of volcano.

She shook her head, attempting to focus her thoughts. She's supposed to be concentrating on chasing after the man.

Hikari: Grr... They've gotten so far ahead... I wish our horses had more time to rest..

Hikari quinted her eyes There was a tall wall of earth that sticks out infront of the mountain.

Hikari: I better be prepared.. No tellin' if he's got some people waitin' around that corner..

Hikari, while holding tightly onto her horses' reigns, uses her free hand to check the quiver on her back.

Nijote: "I can't be sure I'll hit him... If I throw a knife and it doesn't kill him, the horse will panic... Explosives are out of the question, I suggest we just force the horse to stop..."

With that Nijote pulled wide of the bandit, and slowly came towards him, hoping his horse would start to turn at the sight of another horse.

Nova: Sounds like a decent plan. Wouldn't want him leading us into an ambush or anything.

At that, Nova swung the sabrecat around to the other side to cut off the kidnapper's escape. The rear would be covered by the milk brigade, the rogue figured.

The skies began to darken... It looked like Johnathan was providing some heavy artillery...

Johnathan: "Fear the heat of the desert day you may, for the humid flash of sun may streak thy stroke...

But fear more the desert rains, for they come but once a year and leave no vestige of draught behind... Thy stroke included...
"

His voice echoed in the barren wasteland's wind as clouds began to gather... Back at the shack, his body stood still and cold, rising several inches off the ground as he became one with the endothermia that surrounded him.

And then, a drop of rain fell around the kidnapper's path. And another...

Johnathan felt a pebble hit him in the head. It came from the direction Hikari was running in.

She was holding out her bow, and had a very angry look on her face.

Hikari: Try lettin' us women folk know you're gonna make it rain! Ugh, of all the reckless...

The kidnapper spoke in a slightly youthful, but gruff voice. However, the accent was not so much as western..

Kidnapper: Oh? Think ye got meh, eh?

He gave his horse a few kicks. The horse gave out a whiney and started to speed up, despite the fact that rain was starting to come down.

((Dracoon, take note here, and don't overdo it on your own next post))

Nova: Jeez, horses can't tend to move that fast, that's no ordinary steed!

The rogue spurred on his sabrecat, but at this point he wasn't really gaining any distance on the kidnapper. It seemed that it would be on that man's terms when they stopped, unless the guy slipped up. Nova ran a hand over his equipment. And if he did, it would be the last mistake he made.

Johnathan, of course, couldn't stop the torrent...

Johnathan: "Miss Hikari, I am sorry but once the rains begin, there's no telling when they will stop!"

Seconds later, the desert was drenched....

Nijote seemed to growl as she slowly lost pace with the kidnappers horse. She looked towards Nova, who was at least keeping pace with the horse, she would have to trust him for the time being.

Johnathan's rain was a dead give-away to where he was. Something he was going to wish he didn't do. There was an ear splitting crack and a brilliant display of thunder all at once. Star walked up from behind Johnathan and Hikari, his sword drawn and pointed at Johnathan. He swung it once and a jolt of lightning fell out of the sky to strike right infront of Johnathan.

Johnathan: "Not today, drunkard."

The moment Star appeared in the torrential downpour, his soaked body froze up into yet another block of ice. Johnathan continued to float into the air, and summoned a sheet of ice beneath his feet, which he used to get away from Star and towards the kidnapping. The sand was beginning to get muddier and muddier, and soon the rain accumulated to an inch or two of actual flooding in the lower parts of the desert. Johnathan hit the ground fast, and skidded along on his ice platform, anchoring his feet to it by encasing them in a block of ice, as well.

"I hope this works..."

The ice shattered almost instantly and Star took off after Johnathan. Johnathan attracted the storm, all Star had to do was manipulate it. Lightning bolts rained from the sky, oddly attracted more to Johnathan the more he used his powers.

Nijote kept chasing after the kidnapper, even though he was still slowly losing her.

Johnathan leapt off his shard as bolts of lightning flashed around him and kicked it backward at Star as he approached. Johnathan hit the ground running, gaining a significant advantage over everything that was dashing through the mud -- he was right on top of it. Hikari was only about ten yards ahead...

Johnathan: "Miss Hikari! Tell me if you need me to stop the storm! The water is starting to get too deep for horses!"

Hikari gave Johnathan a rather scary glare. It was one of those soul piercing ones that women can do.

Hikari: *gritting teeth* Too late. Might as well go with it now. And the damage on this skirt's comin' out of your pay, Johnny.

Johnathan had given Hikari an idea. She always thought of herself to be a rather quick and agile person, and she definitely knew she can move faster than her horse is moving now.

Hikari ripped a good portion from the bottom of her skirt, and tucked it away in her side pack. She wasn't too keen on the idea of a mini-skirt, but you gotta do what you can to move fast.

She patted her horse, and then actually stood ontop of the horse. She took a deep breath, then leapt forward. She landed in the mud on her knees and hands. Hikari didn't bother to care if she looked pathetic the way she landed. She fought against sinking into the mud all the while trying to move forward. She wasn't doing so bad. Infact, she was eventually able to stay almost ontop of the surface.

Kidnapper: Now these are rough seas if Ah seen 'em! Now hol' on tight, lass. Ah don't think Ah'd la-ket much if yeh fell in.

The kidnapper pulled out a what seemed to be a beautiful blue feather from inside of his vest. He placed a hand, the one holding onto the feather, on the horse's back, while he managed to pull one of his legs up. He almost seemed like he was partially crouching ontop of the horse.

Mitra: Ooh, what a pretty feather.

Kidnapper: This is mah-ty uncomfortable, Ah asure yeh. Well, here we go!

Hikari couldn't believe what she was seeing. The kidnapper leapt off the horse, and it seemed like he was flying! She didn't want to believe it, but the young man just kept moving higher, and further away.

Hikari: Stop the rain now, Johnny.

The kidnapper and Mitra were moving over the rocky wall, when all of a sudden, they both dropped, as if they were just snatched from the air.

Star took a different method to shock Johnathan. He let the lightning run through the water, but he guided it away from everyone else and tried to force it on Johnathan.

Nijote: "Nova, can you fly?"

Nijote was staring in disbelief as her horse sloshed through the water. That wasn't jumping really high, that was flying. That wasn't possible to fly like that.

OOC: Dracoon, you're not really getting what I'm trying to do here.

Johnathan stood on top of the mud as a frozen patch of ground lifted him up and above the lightning. At this point, he had actually stopped paying attention to the danger, instead concentrating on the amazing jumping Kidnapper...

Johnathan: "Is that Roc's Feather...?"

Several seconds later, the downpour died down, and Johnathan held his hand out and wafted it upward. The water in the sand rose out of the ground and back into the air, dispersing as humid vapor. The sand itself was almost as dry as it was before the storm. At least, all of the sand from about three miles around. He dropped his section of ground back down, and it immediately began to melt in the restored desert sun.

For good measure, he snapped his fingers and Hikari's clothes were freshly dried. Johnathan preferred to stay wet.

"Miss Hikari, please forgive me. But I believe we have a much more important matter at hand: That fellow has what could possibly be the feather of the Roc! As is akin to the Roc's high-altitude flight, the Roc's Feather allows its user to reach extreme altitudes with a single leap! That kidnapper is going to get away with Mitra much easier than I previously suspected if we keep after him while he has one of those!"

A very soggy sabrecat, with a somewhat less wet rogue, came trudging up to Johnathan and the rest of the group, notably unhappy.

Nova: Nice, buddy, real nice. You didn't stop him, and look what you did to us!

Hikari: ... That guy couldn't be goin' too far, though. There's nothing much beyond the Stairway to Hell. Definitely not going north-east. No.. I reckon he was gonna stop at the mountain.. 'Least we don't have to worry 'bout him gettin' away.

Hikari let out a whistle, calling for her horse. As soon as it got to her, she got on, and continued her path to the mountain.
