| Yeah, I saw a little over half of Seven Samurai, it seemed pretty good, but I think I prefer The Magnificent Seven. It's got a little more polish, and characters I can better empathize with, most likely due to being in English. Also, most of the actors in The Magnificent Seven are awesome-- Yul Brenner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, James Coburn, and Robert Vaughn. | |||

| Depends...The 1970s Western was pretty good. The Unforgiven? Great movie. Plus, I've a bit of a love for Western films...particularly the Italian Spaghetti Western.
As for DVDs...superbit is decent, but I've basically stopped buying anything but Criterion Collection DVDs. I'm currently getting all the Akira Kurosawa and David Cronenberg films that they have released. I am trying REALLY hard to find a copy of Dead Ringers with Jeremy Irons, directed by Cronenberg. |

| Granted, Criterion DVDs are the best DVDs just because they put so much care into the movies they release. I also love how movies recorded in mono or stereo, they release in mono or stereo. I hate this 5.1 surround remastering crap, I really do. 5.1 surround is such a hokey piece of shit for movies.
Never seen The Unforgiven (that '60s movie, right?), but I have seen Eastwood's Unforgiven. Anyone who can't enjoy that movie has got to have something wrong with them. :o |

It's such a good movie, very moody and low budget, comparable to Carnival of Souls. It's the only of Romero's "Dead" movies that I like, though I haven't seen Land of the Dead yet. Dawn and Day both had cool parts, but overall I just don't think they're so good. Dawn gets a lot of praise, but I don't find much enjoyable about it. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, from 1974? Yeah, there's a great movie. Also has a whole lot of mood, and the last half hour or something is just relentless. When I watched it with some buddies, though, they had more fun simply making fun of it. Hum. I've never seen the remake. Maybe I will someday. Yeah... And then there's the Evil Dead movies. Probably my favorite horror movies, but I think I like John Carpenter's The Thing the most. But yeah...I first watched all three of the ED movies in junior high. They really impressed me, big time. The Evil Dead is the first movie that made me look at how a movie is made. Funny, 'cos it has so many continuity errors, but I really think it's an exceptionally well made film, especially for a buncha college students. (edited by Abnormal Freak on 02-24-06 12:38 PM) |

| Made to suck? Hardly. ED1 is a college project, if I'm thinking correctly. Some things about it suck, but overall I think it's a fantastic movie, no sucking involved. And ED2 is just meant to be a hilarious horror/gore movie, and there are so many nifty film techniques used in there; it's such a beautifully well made film. Then there's AOD, which practically drops all horror aspects and relies on ridiculous humor and an adventure story. All three movies kick ass. Pfft, they hardly suck. ;p A movie like Monsturd is a movie meant to suck, not Evil Dead. | |||

| I had to watch House of Games for my film as lit class, and that was a pretty cool movie. Probably my favorite out of what i've seen so far (besides The Graduate, but really, that movie is pretty damn hard to beat). Basically its about a psychologist who falls in love with a con man. I ain't going to spoil it for ya, but if you like psychological stuff, you should see it. There's a lot of cool things that they do that i have to write a paper on (which i'm procastinating on right now). | |||

| There are so many classics... my head would expload if I tried to name a bunch of them...
But to name a few I would have to say Fight Club, Rebel Without a Cause, Gladiator ('00 the one with Russel Crow), Hook, Star Wars, and the Indiana Jones series... just not the one about young Indiana. |
