Can anyone here remember a hack called 50 LEVELS which I posted on the old board about two months ago? It only had screens and was never released. Well if you can't remember then here is a brief summary of the plot:
a)Game contains 50 levels with the 50th level being bowser's castle.
b)No specific theme or story
c)idea was to make 50 original unique levels, all looking completely different and having completely different layouts and challenges.

My idea was to get 50, yes thats right, 50 hackers to make one level each and then combining all of the levels together into one. Now this sounds a bit ridiculous but what do you think of this? ExGFX and blocks can be sorted out afterwards I just want to hear some people's comments on it. So, what do you think? comment.

EDIT: I am busy with college at the moment so I will revive this thread in about 2 weeks if I still want to go through with it.

I guess that I can contribute with a level or two... (With standard SMW GFX, that is)

Well... Either it will be awesome, or it will suck. It's a cool idea, but getting fifty hackers together is hard enough without them all needing to contribute one level. Obviously there would need to be quality control, so that the levels wouldn't suck, but since some levels would need no editing people who submitted levels that were edited would feel like they were being personally insulted, that favorites were being played, etc.

That said, I'd love to contribute.

Just remember, If you actually want to contribute, don't think too much of it yet as I don't know what will happen over the next few weeks. I have had this idea floating around in my mind for quite a while now and I have come up with advantages and disadvantages. So, like I said, I'll make my mind up fairly soon.

I'd do it, but I'd find it difficult to make a really nice level using only SMW blocks. I'd suggest just adding a bunch of custom blocks (make sure it doesn't slow down) and then publishing the list (or better, distribute a patch with no modified levels for each person to build from and send back the MWL files). ExGFX could be a problem as the original GFX are boring; maybe you could do similar with them.

Also, difficulty distribution is a must. I'm willing to bet there ends up being a ton of hard levels.

I was planning on inserting custom blocks anyway with the smb3 style smashable brick being a must of course and there will be plenty more. The thing I see most interesting about doing this is that so many hackers can work together to make a game made by a large hacking community instead of just one or two hackers working on one hack. It isn't going to be MY hack, it will be everyone's hack really. It can be speedy and there is barely any pressure on the individual hacker since he/she only has to make at least one level.
Koneko said earlier that if hackers submit their levels and they end up being edited while the other levels remain unedited, they could be personally insulted. Well, I will try not to do that. If there is something really badly wrong with the level, I can talk to the editer myself and then sort out the problems then. This can give n00bs a chance to show off their skills in the SMW hacking field.

DAMN THAT WAS A SHIT LONG POST!!

EDIT: Oh and I will post a list of the contributers on my first post in a couple of weeks. I have exams to study for

The SMB3 smashable block sucks though.

It does'nt have to look like a SMB3 smashable brick. It just has to be a brick that can be broken from below with big Mario. I can make it look like anything really
