Does anyone know of Game Genie codes for this version, preferably that work on real SNES hardware? It's pointless to buy the non-smw one just for cheat support. If verifed cheats don't respond, then my cart is possibly undumped. I doubt that however.

Why on earth would you want GG cheats for SMAS + World? I own that game and I never had to use cheats to enjoy it. Just have fun with the classic games.

Because you can do cool things with cheats, like mess up the game's logic and access unused stuff.

Maybe some games just will never have cheating? I've searched everywhere, and even tried manually to create Game Shark codes for the GB Dr. Mario. Nothing useful came out of the effort. GG works fine on that title. I'll see if an emulator can help me make good SMAS-SMW cheats. That should solve the mystery. Expect a results post soon.
Also, how about pointing me toward a list of US NES games which do not have a Famicom equal? I know what's PAL or Japan only, and I'd like to collect every ROM as they don't take much drive space. |

Ask around in the emulation forum, I'm sure they'll point you in the right direction.

But does that apply to SMAS+SMW?
My guess would be that no one really cared to make codes for the SMAS+SMW cart, but the original non-SMW cart. And if you want codes you'd have to make them yourself. |

Hmm. I've gotten codes to work on the emulator, but not my console.
Program: ZSNES 1.42 Game: Super Mario All Stars + Super Mario World (U) [!] SNES: NTSC US- common model. The harder to find one has a blocker to keep games from being pulled out, like an original Game Boy. Code device: Game Genie Hex? code: 7E04EE 14 Converter: GGConv32 VC++ version GG output: F0D3-FE8B Effect in emulation: 20 lives in Super Mario Bros 2 Actual unit: None that I can tell I came up with several conclusions, and at least one has to be right. 1- My cart is an undumped revision. Game companies are known for this! 2- The real Game Genie only accepts ROM editing codes, and not RAM. 3- This converter is inaccurate. Anyone have a copier? I'll send my cart in for dumping if somebody wants to. Or tell me where to get the tools to extract it myself, I'm skilled enough. |

The known versions of SMAS+SMW are as follow:
Pointless information? Perhaps not. Good Tools did not come from God, they were made by a person, and are suspectable to incorrect information. Perhaps one of the "bad" or "over" dumps are actually different versions of the cartridge that are valid. This has happened before.... for example, Bigfoot (U) [b4].nes is not a bad dump at all, but in fact just another version of the game. This is only one known example, and with the number of ROMs out there... there's bound to be more, even in something as common as Super Mario All-Stars. Also I believe that the real Game Genie only patches ROM addresses and not RAM. However, as my assumption of that is based off the way that the NES Game Genie works, it may not be correct. That's how the Gameboy Game Genie works too, so I'd assume so. They use some logic (an FPGA, I believe) to detect accesses to ROM and return their own data instead of what's on the cart. Similar hardware can probably be used for multiple systems, so they'd have had little difficulty making a SNES version that does the same as the existing NES version.

Also I forgot to say: Yes, it's possible you have an undumped, yet unknown cartridge, though as unlikely as it is (being a Mario cart after all). You'd probably be wasting money on postage to send it to a copier.

Just go to GSHI if you want codes that work on SMAS + World. BTW, Game genie doesn't work with RAM. Some people think you can just convert PAR codes dto game genie format and they will work on the console. It will work with emulators but not the actual game.
