I want a world map style like Super Mario Bros. 3, and I have no idea on how to do that. Is anyone willing to give me some information on it? Perhaps I should read some FAQs... but I didn't find anything on it yet.

1. Open Lunar Magic
2. Click the Help menu
3. Select 'Contents'
4. Open the Overworld Editor documentation heading
5. Open the Overworld Menu subheading
6. Select Change Submap FG Graphics

How do I extract overworld graphics from another ROM hack? I pressed "quick extract", it made the ExGFX folder. I opened mine, put "Quick Insert" (it totally screwed up the level graphics)... it did nothing to the overworld. How do I extract and insert JUST overworld graphics? These ExGFX tutorials are not working.

For the SMB 3 GFX I suggest you use one of peter ac's hacks (SMB 1). There unlocked, and you can just transfer all your levels into there. Doing it the other way is very hard, especially changing pallettes.

Exactly.

Lemon de man: it has absolutely nothing to do with ExGFX.

You have to lay out the paths for the entire overworld when you start. make wherever you want a level put the blue level tile there, and put an orange level tile on top of it. When you set the level tile reveal event, make it the same event that you want the paths to open up on. So for example...

level 1-1 : put the blue tile Gfx directly on the overworld, on layer 2
put an unrevealed orange tile on top of the blue one
set the orange tile to reveal itself when you clear the event the level is set to.

How do I extract JUST the overworld though? JUST overworld, nothing more. Peter's graphics for individual levels are not the ones I have for mine... my levels are Super Mario Bros. 3 only, Peter's is Super Mario Bros. 1. I want the overworld extracted and put into my game...

1. Extract AllGFX.bin from SMBDX, and open it up in a tile editor, find the OW GFX, and copy it into the same spot in the AllGFX.bin you extract from your ROM, and reinsert.

2. Extract the Shared Palettes rom SMBDX, and insert it to your ROM.

3. Open the OW of my rom, and copy all of the layer 2 tiles in the blue area at the bottom into the same place in your OW.

Use SMBDX's OW as a guideline, in that only the ground and paths should be on Layer 2, and everything else is on Layer 1.

Thanks a lot. I'll try that when I go home, but something tells me I'll still have a couple more problems. I will try, though.

How do I extract AllGFX? I'm so horrible with graphics in this.

Edit: I fixed that problem. Now I need a tile editor.

Off-topic note: I added screenshots of my game in Mario Island Adventure.
