"Me? Why, I'm the defender of justice. The destroyer of evil. The champion of the little guy." I gave a short laugh. I needed some form of light from all this gloom around me.

"Well, alright, that's just my part time job. My name's Kirbynite. And I'm just passing by. Actually, most people in my world shouldn't really know me either."

I suppose I spoke a bit cryptically, but I atleast answered his question.

The shrapnels didn't even reached Siryx. He held his hand foward and the shrapnels stopped right in front of him.

"What? Is that all you can do? Heh... well, anyway. It seems like the upholders of Evil are all tall around here and judge people on size... well, if I must destroy this armor to prove that I am more than what I appear to be... then so be it!" stated Siryx, lowering his hand and causing the shrapnels to crash down in front of him.

"Now... do you have any feelings, little armor? Can you feel anything?... and if so... what shall I give you? What shall be the gift of the Devourer of Possibilities to you?" he asked, climbing the mound of shrapnels and slowly approaching the armor...

"Shall I give you pain? Shall I give you despair?... or maybe hatred?... or sadness? Maybe I'll give you nothing and take away your form, plunging you back in the emptiness that spawned you... or maybe I'll simply absorb your consciousness and use your physical form as a puppet? Many fates are possible... many worse than death. People fear death... but death is nothing too bad, when one thinks about it. I brings about something that will make death look nice and forgiving... and you, common servant of True Death, will have a glimpse of it!... if you want to, that is." Siryx stopped in front of the armor.

"Now... let us give those gentlemen a good show!" he said, pointing at Thrudd and Destin. "I have prepared some suitable entertairnment for them! Let us not disappoint them, shall we?"

((Wow...I read the whole story thus far, and I'm still not exactly sure what is happening...but I'll try to follow along and figure it out decently well...))

A voice came from the darkness near Kirbynite, startling him. It was somewhat familiar, but he couldn't quite place it.

"He said you'd be here, right in the center of the action. He didn't tell me you'd be running away from it already, though. I've got to say, I expected more."

The figure stepped forward from the shadows. Clad in a long black trenchcoat, and decked out rather extensively, Kirbynite recognized him instantly as Sky's son, who had gone through something of an identity crisis, and seemed to have a different name each time he showed up. Quite a good fighter, and possessing a good deal of magical power, he had some difficulty focusing it, perhaps based on his magicless mother. As such, he drew a lot of his power through Magitech systems, which allowed him to use the best of technology and his own powers, focusing them as he had some difficulty doing himself. Barely an adult, his voice had the stress of one who had already been through many ordeals.

"It's Strato this time, by the way. So where are you headed, and why away from the fun so fast?"

**************************

Taking a far different approach, a girl just a bit younger watched from a nearby hill as Evan fought what seemed to be no more than a child. Kept from them by a barrier, she could only watch. Draped in mages robes concealing a more fighteresque outfit, she waited patiently for a chance to intervene. Aether practiced a state of meditation. She was only here to observe, as her father had reminded her time and again, unless the situation became desperate. She smiled. He had such concern for her safety, and always had. As the last link to her mother, his lost love, she would always have a special place in her father's heart, and she knew it pained him to send her into potential danger. But she and her brother...half brother, she supposed...were the ones he could trust the most, so he had no choice. Trinity could only be matched as such. She wondered how the others were faring.

**************************

The red-robed traveller approached Elysia cautiously. He had seen what she could do. He had also seen what force had been brought to bear against her. He wasn't exactly sure of the situation, but knew it was going to be a wary one for all parties. Sky regretted having to bring his children back to this time to deal with this, but then, he smiled as he remembered, it was hardly the first time, nor with his luck would it be the last. With luck, their assistance could bring some balance to the problems, balance the world sorely needed. He had heard of the reports of the situation in New York escalating, and considered going there in his son's stead, but knew one of them needed to be here in the desert. Pushing these thoughts aside, he addressed the woman.

"I've seen what you can do. But why are you here? What are you trying to start...or prevent?"

OoC: Yeah, there hasn't been a chance to logically explain what's going on, or at least the one chance I had was used to introduce something else. Anyways, a little thing I try and do is wait for everyone to post, Grey is kind of unpredictable so I just figured to tell you.

Guy's eyes glowed a little brighter with the dark flames as this newer person appeared.

Guy: "A guardian and a child? What's next?"

Guy looked back as they left the city, the city would soon disappear from reality, not just their vision.

Guy: "Since you came, I'll give you a basic explanation of what's going on."

Guy seemed a little jumpy, but he had his reasons.

Guy: "The 'Society of Death' was the rulers of the after life. They decided that souls of lesser calibers would be servants in the after life, those of stronger caliber would be the masters. Hardly anyone met the... requirements to be strong. Origin stopped it though, he over turned their rules and implimented his own. When you die with Origin's rules, your essence of your soul gets recycled, and you memories are stored. When you are finally ready to sleep forever, you remember everything and you are allowed to dream forever."

Guy stopped suddenly.

Guy: "They're about to attack us... It feels like a captain and a lieutenant. Get ready..."

Shen's senses reached out at this new person. She could feel the power of this person. It was more than enough to help Evan.

Shen: "Please... help Evan, you can break through the barrier, I can't..."

The armor took a step out of the portal and seemed to get much stronger, almost equal with the captians.

Armor: "Now that my attention isn't diverted..."

The armor held his sword above him and there was another crack from the statues, a thin male disappeared as soon as it broke out.

Thrudd: "So, he's after the ones that left... Damnit..."

Armor: "Do you still want to fight Neobowser, we're both limited to a simple avatar, it'll be fair."

Elysia still had Raza slung over her shoulder.

Elysia: "The laws of the world are about to be changed. I'm just trying to stop that before it happens. If it happens, I'll die too. I suggest you don't interfere though, you're just bringing ruin on yourself."

Strato shot a harsh look at Guy.

"A Child? Hardly. I've been through more ordeals at this age than a lot of warriors do their whole lives. Let these new warriors come, I can take them on easily."

As he drew his blade, a slightly curved and slender sword, and drew his gauntlet into a more aggressive attack mode, the warrior remembered his father's instructions. Limit aggression to just what's necessary until you know exactly what you're dealing with.

"Will we need to have a full-out battle, or just fend them off for a while so we can get away and regroup with others? It's kind of important to the battle strategy I'll use."

********************************

Aether heard Shen's cry, and sensitive to her needs, abandoned her observer's stance to leap into action. The first leap, however, was a mistake. The barrier proved far stronger than she had predicted, and a focused magistrike caused her to be thrown violently into the earth. Another strategy, then, was in order. Focusing her aura, Aether examined the barrier separating her from Evan and the tiny girl. It was strong, but certainly not impenetrable. It might be worn down through a remote magic strike, focusing small energies on it from multiple angles rather than a single powerful force. She focused on creating a more sustained hole to allow Shen to enter as well, but feared it would take too long to be able to assist Evan inside, as she meditated.

********************************

Sky gave Elysian a disarming smile.

"If you knew how many times I've been promised that I couldn't win, that a certain course of action was sure to bring me death and destruction, you'd think I was crazy, since in every one of those cases I've gone at my goal just as intently, if not more so. There are only a handful of individuals who can oppose evil, through power, cleverness, or even sheer force of will. Whatever it is, I seem to have enough of it to make a difference sometimes, and as such, I have the responsibility to do something. And you can make some amazing friends doing it, too. But you can also lose them. I knew this was serious, and have my children helping as well, since they're among the chosen few. But you've been carrying that guy for a while. Mind some assistance?"

There was a loud blast of excess sonic noise as the stream collided with the ground, with Miller, and kicked up a mushroom cloud of tar, dust, and smoke...

...And Miller was gone. Where? It was impossible to tell. Maybe he had been blown to pieces by Loki's attack. Maybe he had run away. Maybe he was right about to attack Loki!

A few seconds of silence after Loki's attack proved that thesis wrong.

Whatever the case was, Miller had been there long enough to finish what he was supposed to do. New allies were present, and his presence was no longer required. We can focus on someone else's story now. If he's not dead, he'll be back. Sometime or another.

---------------

Evan shifted left and right, his massive bulk inexplicably moving like a butterfly in the meadow of the battlefield. As all sound from the outside was cut off, he could only see Shen's pleas as he glanced sidelong, keeping his distance from the little girl and absorbing the Chaos energy back into his Emerald shard. The moment he saw the mysterious stranger ricochet off of the little girl's barrier, Evan knew he had finally gotten his cavalry and steeled himself to keep fighting until his new ally was in a position to help him beat this freak of childish nature. He attempted again to close into melee range, this time mixing up his attacks.

The little girl wouldn't know what hit her if he didn't let her know where he was coming from...

With this line of logic, Evan rushed her again, this time coming from several angles at once. He had to feel her out, understand where her agility would lead her. It was matching his easily, and Evan knew he was pretty fast. There was only one real explanation, and that was that she was toying with him. He launched a beefy fist from the girl's left before circling around to deliver a hard soccer kick upward, assuming she'd try, rather than block his attack, to dodge it again.

He had backed up against that barrier once before... It burned him just to be close to it, trying to punch his way through would be useless. It really was up to whomever that person was to break it. Until then, he'd do his best to defend Shen.

"Tch.. Of all the places to meet you.."

I for one was not expecting to see anyone I knew, even less one of the members of the Sky family. The last thing I needed was someone to nag me.

"I'm looking for a friend, Stratos. I know I've got priority problems, but my friend comes first.... I'm procrastinating."

"Unless your friend is going to help us fend off this rather large problem, you need to get your priorities in line. And it's Strato, by the way."

Around them, the buildings seemed to be trembling. The promised foes appeared to be approaching rather quickly, and they meant business.

"But I don't care what we're doing after this, since we have serious issues on our hands right now. Less talk, puffball, and more getting ready for a fight."

*************

At the same moment that Evan kicked at the girl, the hole in the barrier had started to open. It was far too small to do anything with, but it showed that the barrier was breaking down, if only slightly, by use of the remote magic strike. The real danger, Aether knew, was that now that there was a hole in the barrier the strangely strong little girl would notice and do something about it. Aether cursed herself for her methods. She had sacrificed stealth for speed by using this method rather than weakening a larger area before the first actual penetration of the barrier.
