| SMAS rips do not make your hack pretty. At all.
Especially when you use them for every level... like hundreds of other hacks. Learn something, guys: originality. Using the same graphics hundreds of other hacks use is boring, and I'm going to punch everyone who says "oooh nice graphics" -- especially if they're just SMAS rips, or YI rips (which are equally overused now, sadly) |

| I think using other rips from others might be the best way to interest people. No one barely uses Megaman X but I do.

| I´m agree, SMAS and YI graphics are cool, but very overused, so that becomes a hack bored. In my next hack I´ll only use Mario´s Time Machine´s graphics (never used on a hack at the moment ) and some custom graphics. |

| This thread gets a gold star.
SMAS graphics have gotten to the point of "they are decent" to "you are being lazy." You could rip from somewhere else or better yet, design your own graphics! Ripping from other games can be good sometimes, but if you go from Megaman 7 to Pokemon, it isn't going to work out well. Heck, nothing will work if you use the SMW Mario or any Mario for that matter. As Alastor said, SMW's less defined style is better because... well, it is a set theme in the hack. Every tileset is drawn basically the same in it. If you go from underdetailed to ULTRA REAL graphics, the atmosphere of the game will go down the tubes. I was thinking of making a custom graphics tutorial showing some techniques in drawing SMW tilesets and sprites from shading and stuff, but I am unsure how many people would learn from it. Think it would be a good idea to continue working on it or just dump it? |

| I'm gonna go work on those DKC2 rips now
I'm a bit afraid to even use SMAS graphics in my hack now. I only have a very small amount (the iced SM3), and I'm definatly not going to put any more in... As for originality... I fail at art. I really do It was the only class I got a B in my freshman year, and everyone told me I had the easiest teacher |
