A lot of people use their left for braking. I'm not sure why.
Actually, come to think about it, I don't know why it's standard to use your right foot for gas and brake in automatic cars. |

Maybe I'm just weird, but it seems to me that using the same foot for both pedals would increase the possibility of pressing the wrong pedal... *shrug* |

or...maybe it is for the sake of sudden breaking because with one foot, you can do an effective stomp better?

You can quickly burn up brakes and/or transmission if you're stepping on both the gas and the brake at the same time.

While I've definitely gotten used to driving in the recommended fashion, with my right foot doing both, on longer trips I really feel like my left foot is just sitting there, not really doing anything. This feeling becomes even worse when my right foot does the same, when I turn on cruise control. Which is one of the reasons why I sometimes don't turn cruise control on even when it would be fine and safe to do so.
And if you want to drive really fast, take a car on the autobahn. |

Using one foot elminates the possibility of pushing the accelerator and brake at the same time, which I assume would be bad. Plus, two feet down there... could get a little difficult. One foot does the job.

I have actually driven a little bit over 100 I would of went a lot higher but my car only goes that fast. My streets speed limit 25 and I love going over it by at least 20 mph because no cops are ever in my neighborhood. |
