This is n00bish but my xbox is dead and its the drive. can i use the same drive from a best buy or comp usa to replace it?

Is there a good place to find this crap?

You're going to need to get a Xbox hard drive, and you can probably get those at a FuncoLand, Gamestop, EB Games, or any other one of those stores. Also, they can check to make sure if the drive is actually dead or not, and they will repair it if needed.

Only with a mod chip. I don't know where to get them, but it might be against the rules to say where anyway.

Well, if it's made for the XBOX, I don't see why not. Unless the system records the serial numbers of each component, and fails to run if they don't match (which would be REALLY stupid)...
