Kyouji: Set the end of the pipe tile to act as tile 1EB, and save it to a new MAP16 page.
Place that under the triangle to fix your problem. And, uh... The one water Layer 1 tile is screwy, mario needs a consistent path to move on, not a broken one like that. |

Originally posted by Alastor the Stylish On a first look, they are all working... but you will have later problems with that for sure. Place a level exit tile on the overworld as well to connect the main overworld with one of the smaller ones, and the chances are good that the connection will not work right. It will sometimes also happen, that you want to enter a level, but instead of the level you see the bonus game round forever. Trust me. Take a look on the path connections in the original SMW and try to do something like that. What you are doing right now will not work right! About the problem with the triangle: Why not using ExGFX for that grassland-tile, so that it looks like the proper pipe-tile? It shouldn't be so hard and it will look much better. He wouldn't need to use ExGFX, he'd only need to use Map16 in order to get it to work right. They're two completely different things, you know.

Yes.. you're right of course.
I mixed the things a bit up, because I never used the normal GFX for something like that XD, but yeah, it's only some Map16-stuff as said by Sukasa. ^^ (edited by FPI on 02-04-06 09:03 PM) |

GUYS. I know how to use map16. I did that on purpose. ON PURPOSE.
As for the overworld... I've tested this, it works fine Just so long as Mario's placed correctly over a tile as he goes on, he'll follow the path, even though it's off... And if it hits the next tile while being off by the same amount, it'll work fine. Seriously, you guys should try this stuff before you say it doesn't work; I know not to do these things without testing |

Another thing too. The blooper isn't really playing when he chases you. He's actually trying to kill you.
All the stuff wrong that I've found wrong were pretty much said though. Keep at it! |

Originally posted by Alastor the Stylish Then, well...how come it's the only tile error like that in that particular level it is in? There are some more of those (IE: the pipes in the same screenshot), but it wouldn't hurt to expand on obvious things like that. |

Ah. Now I understand. That seems to make sense, if nonsense can make sense. Come to think about it, that IS pretty funny, although the "OAME GVER" bit is still the best part about that level.

So yes, I've completed the new overworld and fixed all existing glitches that I know of. There were even some that none of you found that I found. I think tomorrow I'll draw up a new "Mario's Return", run it by you guys, and then take the rest of the month to work on the levels themselves.

... Yeah, I can see how that would be confusing. Basically, I was making slight edits to the overworld to improve the overall look, and have finally gotten around to actually making the last parts of the overworld so that it doesn't just cut off once you get to Chocodes, which is very, very obvious when you press start to look at the whole overworld and scroll to the lower-right. Additionally, I've finished all the events through Aquaria.
So yeah, final list of worlds, probably: World 1: Teacup Isle World 2: Harmony Island World 3: Luccara Plains (I know that's not what it says in this demo) World 4: Aquaria World 5: Dark Cemetary World 6: Chocodes World 7: Blaze Cavern World 8: Ghostopolis World 9: Star World World 10: Space Paradise (edited by on 02-05-06 10:12 PM) |

Dark Cemetary sounds an awful lot like a redux of that one level in Luccara. Chocodes sounds pretty interesting. It sounds as though it's a souped-up version of Chocolate Island, but I may be wrong. Blaze Cavern is what really caught my eye, though. It's probably going to be nothing more than a Volcano, but I love those kinds of worlds.

Dark Cemetary IS essentially a redux of the graveyard. Is that really so bad, though?
Aaaanyway, Chocodes = Chocolate Desert |

Originally posted by Alastor Not at all. In fact, I actually planned to do something like that myself in my own hack, although on a much smaller scale. There would be foreshadowing to a later world in one level of another world, although the connection would be semi-coincidencal. If you care to know, the first level is going to be a salt-type level, and the world it references would be a desert. Chocolate desert? Pretty interesting if you ask me. I can see a mental image of that world in my head. Quicksand chocolate pudding stands out in particular. |

Actually it's not a chocolate desert anymore, hence why I don't call it Chocolate Desert, which would totally, totally fit. It'd be less ironic than your first experience with the land's depression being in a place called Harmony Island. Which still amuses me, even though I thought it up.

As an update on the whole loading it on my Xbox thing, I was able to complete the entire demo in one sitting without a single game over, which is actually quite the accomplishment when you think about it, for the player (me) and the hack designer (you). I have yet to find every secret exit which is my next goal. Of note, however: my sister played with me as well and she managed to get about 3 or 4 game overs before I stopped giving her my extra lives.
Summary: Challenging and fun hack; not impossible by any means. Good job. |

And now I remember why I settled upon that title screen in the first place...
... I can't draw for crap. Could someone possibly draw me a new one? You'll be credited ;; |
