Ripping sprites from another game, such as Mega Man X? I was going to make a Mario/MMX crossover. I've tried some editors, but they seem a bit too complicated for me. I know, I'm a n00b Is there any sprite/tile ripper that is as easy as Lunar Magic's program setup?

My suggestion is to make a screen shot of just the sprites, then open the screenshots in PSP or mspaint, then copy and paste the gfx to the respective places using YY-CHR, and use the mario world reconfigurator to alter the sprites behavior.

Or just take a savestate of it, and open it with a graphics editor...

Xkeeper has the right idea here, just find a copy of bgmapper 1.77, open a savestate made in a level containing the sprite gfx, and press 0, then extract VRAM graphics, open in paint or PSP and proceed with the instrutions I already gave.

For some reason YY-CHR doesn't open for me. The DOS just fails. I'm running Windows XP SP2 by the way. I'll try everything else though, thanks.

YY-CHR is done in Win32 O_o
You must be thinking of an older tile editor or something. I can run YY-CHR fine on this lappy running Winsucks XP SP2.

DOS? DOS? YY-CHR is not a DOS program, google it and redownload it, or just search zophar.net

I believe that would be a problem with XP, not YY-CHR. None-the-less I suggest you re-download anyway.

Have any idea what it would be? I just re-downloaded and it's still doing it. I'll run Windows Update now.

Might have a virus or something. There's also the possibility that a virus scanner is blocking it, as I recall someone having that problem before. Try right clicking on it, selecting properties, and seeing what's in there. That might help us solve the problem.

XP can be a whore about permissions sometimes, regardless of your privilages. It's best to avoid 'Documents and Settings' altogether.

Download it to c:\downloads, see if that works.

Got it working in safe mode, thanks! But yeah, I'm pretty lost X_X Does anyone know a site with a good tutorial for usage of YY-CHR with SNES games...preferably Mega Man X games? Thanks again everyone!
