Hyperhacker, only traded Pokemon have that disobidience thing. Ones you've caught yourself will always obey you. It was probably just a poor choice of words on Nintendo's part. Oh, and Beedrill's Twinneedle sends Misty packing, but Bellsprout/Oddish/Ivysaur is good backup.

That's odd. Probably just a foggy memory on your account, though. I swear I "remember" once having a Charmander that started out with Scratch and Leer, and fighting a Chef on the SS Anne (who supposedly looked like a Sailor, except with a spatula). However, I now know that those were probably a dream or something.

BTW, I did some quick math... if you buy 29 of them, the price should drop to about $50000-60000.
Speaking of going through walls... anyone else find it odd that you could surf and fish in the statues?
Oh, and there were other cool glitch items. One was called '?????' and was a real working surfboard! If you used it near water it would say "[name] got on the ?????" and you could surf just as if you were on a Pokémon, without one. (I even played a hack where someone renamed it to BOARD. It was cool.) I used this to leave Palette Town without any Pokémon a few times, and got into battles to see what happened. Usually it would just end the battle instantly or say I had no Pokémon and fainted, but one time it sent me out instead of a Pokémon... it was weird as hell. Both HP bars went way off the screen, the graphics went looney, and the music just slowed down and stopped. Even lowered pitch. Sounded just like a tape player running out of batteries. Then it crashed.
…I was hoping I was the first person to find out how to use that item… I wouldn’t be surprised if the guy I told that to told other people over the internet and claimed that he figured it out though. If you stand next to a wall two blocks wide and face the opposite direction you could put yourself inside the last block, then just walk off it to get though it. …It healed your pokémon’s HP? …The price drops? And about the surfboard, didn’t you still need the badge for it? Of course, you could always buy that too (or in this case, change the items you have).

Just a side effect of the programming. The trainers are stored as Pokémon.
…So is that a yes?

I think this was explained before. When the old guy shows you a demo battle, it changes your name to "Old Man" so it'll show up as that in battle. (This is also why you can encounter Missingno in the first place.) I guess you did something to stop it from changing back.
I know, what I mean is, why didn’t it change back? I guess it could’ve been some random thing my gameshark did {it turned Vermillion City into a Glitch City [and eventually crashed the game, I think], and, in a friend’s Link’s Awakening game, it started me out at the bottom the map, in some water. I was able to walk off the bottom of the map, and it brought me to the top [and all my items were fathers, so I couldn’t really do anything Later, the save file got deleted too (two or three of his game’s files were erased; I once set his Mario RPG in the floor for a couple of minutes, and when I started it again, the file was deleted—uh, I mean He wouldn’t let me borrow it after that)]}

Hm, I just thought of something. What'd happen if you saved the game in some town, shut it off, turned it back on, and surfed on the side of the island? (Might help if you played a different game on the same GB for a bit before you start again.) Since the game never initializes that part of memory until you enter a route with grass on it, and uninitialzed memory contains random data, I bet you could find all sorts of weird stuff.
That’s what I usually do. It doesn’t seem to make much of a difference.
I always thought they would obey you if they trusted you, like, for example, if you raised it up from level 5, it would obey if it’s just over the limit, but, if it’s some pokémon you just caught and gave rare candies to, then it would disobey.

Bite, make sense I don't remember if it had a flinching effect back then or not though. Now bite in the later games, Gold and beyond, it became Dark. Starmie's half psychic so..bite would REALLY be the way to go in that case.

Nope, you didn't need the right badge for the Surfboard. Also, there were two more glitch items. The BOULDERBADGE and the CASCADEBADGE. The latter allows you to throw a rock at any time. It also changes the music. The former allows you to use bait at any time. Another glitch item acted as an unlimited supply of Safari Balls that you could use outside of the Safari Zone. The last glitch item I can remember allowed you to access the Pokedex at any time, even in battle.

I either raised a Pikachu to take it out or I used Bite with another pokemon. Since Starmie is part Psychic these days, bite was super-effective against Starmie in my FireRed game.

Plus, bite can make the opponent flinch. Misty took out my Pikachu with a few Bubblebeams, though.

Trapster, Starmie's always been water/psychic. The only one of the original pokemon that got changed was Magnemite/Magneton, to Electric/Steel.

At least, I think...

Eh, easy mistake, too; Staryu's just plain Water, I can see where one would get mixed up.

Since we're on the topic of Starmie, I was using a level 21 Starmie against Sabrina's Alakazam (it was my last pokemon, and my first save file, so don't criticize my lack of knowledge; we didn't even have the internet then). I ran out of other attacks, and hadn't known how much Rage sucked in R/B/Y. So I used Rage. Endless loop. STARMIE used RAGE! Enemy ALAKAZAM used RECOVER! I eventually got tired of it and shut the damn GBC off.

As for assorted Mew-related rumors, the first one I heard was the most plausible, though still (looking back) should've been obvioius that it was fake. It involved a Mist Stone, but it was just "beat the elite four 30 times", an easily-attainable goal. I didn't hear many others, and none of them stuck out in my memory (because I had already heard rumors about Mew before)... that, in fact, is what lead to me immediately dismissing Ailure's post a while back about a glitch that actually does let you fight Mew.

Wasn´t there a rumour about getting Mew by putting Magikarp in the day-care house and let it level up to lvl 100?

That´s what I heard.

This is true. The only other change in old Pokemon, is the attack Bite went from Normal to Dark, making it super effective on psychics. I'm not sure if Super Fang and Hyper Fang were changed too, someone may want to correct me on that.

No, Super and Hyper Fang aren´t changed. I have a Raticate at lvl 20 in my FireRed game with at least one of those attacks.

They´re still normal.

There were a lot of rumors about that little pink pest. Most of 'em were a load of shit. And they got more ridiculous as time went on.

But now that you mention it, I think I did hear that one...

Let's not forge the rumor about the truck next to the S.S. Anne. They even brought it back in the Fired Red/Leaf Green series but it had no purpose...you can find a Lava Cookie in a box next to it now, though.

And how do I get to that truck in FR/LG? Surf?

The same way you would normally--don't go on the SS Anne, but trade for a Pokemon with Cut instead. Come back later with Surf and go over there from the lower dock. Theres a box down to the right with a Lava Cookie hidden inside of it.

Then it´s way too late. I was on the boat to raise my pokémon but that was long ago.

Besides, a lava cookie isn´t much of a big deal.
