Horray for useless polls (and no, I didn't use the Poll function for a reason).

Anyway, I live in the US and have a normal keyboard for this country. Nothing special.

I live in the US, and I switch between qwerty and dvorak depending on what I'm doing. If I need to type a lot of text, especially if I need to type it in fast, I use dvorak. If I'm playing a game, I use qwerty, since I don't want to waste time reconfiguring all the keys to make sense with dvorak just so I can type slightly better. When I'm writing code of some kind, I just use whatever I was last using.

I live in Puerto Rico and I use the QWERTY layout keyboard.

Never had the chance to use the dvorak keyboard so I am uncool like that.

Someone is actually using dvorak? Wow. WEll, if there was a proper Swedish version of it, I might give it a try. QWERTY is not very effective for writing fast, and that's due how it was made or something. It was to avoid something related to old typewrites that could get stuck if you wrote two letters too fast or something.

I'm using the Swedish layout, almost always. Although I know what a few of the keys are on the English layout... mostly due to my 486 that didn't recnoise the keyboard layout as Swedish (I think it was just a line being wrong in autoexec.bat or something). And to the fact that a few games (*cough*ZSNES*cough) even ignores the keyboard layout.

I couldnīt find the swedish layout on that site but I use that too.

There has been moments when they keyboard changed layouts just like that.

I have the worst layout ever. QWERTY on an eMachine Keyboard. Somehow I type up to 100 WPM on it, though.

It doesn't slow me down.

USA Standard, though I'm in Canada. Canadian Standard replaces slashes and such with various French characters, which makes typing paths difficult. I've considered DVORAK but I haven't actually used it yet.

I can also switch to a Japanese layout when I need to.

I don't think I could use Dvorak since I'm so used to QWERTY. I've never used anything else aside from French keyboards which can be quite confusing since they assign different symbols/characters to different keys than I'm used to.

US Standard as well. I've had 3 or 4 different keyboards and never even TOUCHED Canadian Standard.

Have you seen this?

The page has one inaccuracy. Y is sometimes a vowel in English, and sometimes a consonant. It's weird.

I might try Dvorak someday.

Yea, that guy is definately ignorant. People shouldn't be talking out of their asses about things when they have no idea what they're talking about.

I have no f***ing idea. Seriously. You get it by typing AltGr+M. And I never use it. I don't use the euro symbol either... umm... because we don't use euros.

I don't think there's a single key on the US keyboard that I don't use. Espically when programming.

I rarely use that menu button, Scroll Lock, Pause, or a few of the F keys.

I use the menu button when I don't feel like reaching for the mouse and some punk put in an option that's more easily accessible via the context menu than any other keyboard shortcut. I use pause for Start+Pause to open the system menu. Lemme think of which F keys I use.

F1 - I don't use help often enough to reach for this when I do need it. This opens the menu in some games though.
F2 - Rename file
F3 & F4 - Don't think I use these.
F5 - Reload
F6 - Jumps to the address bar in FF & IE (also proceeds to toggle between frames, which is handy when I want to scroll a frame)
F7 - Spell check in Word
F8 - startup options ;D
F9-F11 - can't think of anything
F12 - 'save as' in Word

I don't really know what scroll lock is for either.

in older text editing programs, if scroll lock is on and you press down, you scroll the window instead of moving the cursor down

Hey, I never knew about that Win+Pause. But the only time I really need to go there is to go to Device Manager. I have a registry hack which adds that to the My Computer icon's context menu, and I have a large portion at the top of the screen reserved for status displays, in which the top row of icons shows up. So I can just right-click it at any time and go to Properties or Device Manager.

Lemme think about those F keys though.
F1 - Opens Help in various things. I rarely need this because I read the manuals first. I actually wrote a program a while back to disable it because it was annoying when I accidentally hit it while renaming a while, but it caused some problems.
F2 - Rename files.
F3 - Find Next.
F4 - Alt+F4.
F5 - Refresh in most browsers, and save state in most emulators (my personal preference).
F6 - Select save slot in emulators.
F7 - Load state in emulators.
F8-F12 - Can't think of anything.

My keyboard also has those play/pause/volume control keys, which is sweet. Most don't actually do anything (Windows doesn't recognize them) but if I ever get around to it, I could write my own keyboard driver easily enough to make them useable.
