Or it loaded a string of data equal in length to, encompassing part of, and beginning shortly before the beginning of nidoran m's cry, causing it to improperly load the frequency and have it be shorter. (edited by Alastor the Stylish on 01-18-06 09:55 PM) |

Ah, the memories. Yep, used the glitch for rare candies and master balls... I was stupid.
Well, not as stupid as my brother, who lost his save data from using both a Gameshark AND catching a missingno... ha. But I used a Gameshark for teaching my Venusaur Metronome... Eh, what can I say? I probably would have fallen for that Mew thing too when I was a kid. I believed anything Pokemon related was real... I remember someone telling me that Missingno was invincible. Well... I said I didn't want him, so I never caught him... I still remember trying to get over 100 fishing rods into my computer... did not work well... |

Well it sounds almost perfectly like Crobat's cry. Besides, some of the other Pokemon used a similar trick for getting their cry to sound a certain way without having 151 cries for every Pokemon. In my opinion, it is unlikely that it is a coincidence.
Also, M had a distorted Zapdos's cry. Another type of MISSINGNO. that I have never been able to reproduce had an odd-sounding variation of Dragonair's cry as its cry. |

Yeeea...some of them have similar or the same cry (Rhydon and Charizard? ), I guess that was just what Go Ichinose wanted to do for the cries. Some use a similar pattern (Dratini and Bulbasaur line), some sound similar, but they did a good job of making them all uniquely different (except for Rhydon and Charizard )

Uh, Rhydon has a much brighter cry than Charizard. I just checked in FireRed.
You must´ve thought of another pokemon. Or? |

No. Rhydon has the same cry as Charizard make a recording, play them right next to eachother (or put them both in your party and choose hit down after viewing one)..I just know they are the same. When I lived at home, I was forced to eat, sleep, and breath useless Pokemon facts. I know what I'm talking about, sadly (edited by Yoronosuku on 01-19-06 06:54 PM) |

I dunno if that recording will sound any good if I record it from my DS to my mic.
I´m sure you know what you´re talking about but I know what I´m hearing. I´ll see what I can come up with. Edit: I know why we misunderstood eachother. You´re thinking of Rhyhorn. Not Rhydon. (edited by Ran-chan on 01-19-06 06:46 PM) |

Its just something funny I always noticed no other two Pokemon share cries, though some have very similar ones (think Seel/Hitmonchan, Lickitung/Dewgong, Caterpie/Goldeen and especially Golem/Koffing!)
EDIT: OH MY GOD. Yes, I meant Rhyhorn >.<;! Ahhhhg...Soooo sorry ^^ (edited by Yoronosuku on 01-19-06 06:47 PM) (edited by Yoronosuku on 01-19-06 06:50 PM) |

How could you forget the most obvious one, Poliwag and Ditto? They too, are exactly the same. I believe there was a third one with that same cry, but I forget what it was.

Actualy....upon close observation, they ARE believe it or not different It is the ryhtm in which their cries are...in some cases, the cries were intended to fit the "rythm" of the Japanese names (but tell me who Psydon and Lizardon are phoneticly identical, TELL ME )..buuut, yes. that is another one who is really similar...listen to Goldeen/Caterpie, or Golem/Koffing or...this one is especially weird, Paras/Parasect and Mewtwo/Mew. No really! Them especially! I mean..they too almost sound the same.
Edit: and the other cry you were thinking about was Jigglypuff (Puurin) (edited by Yoronosuku on 01-19-06 07:04 PM) (edited by Yoronosuku on 01-19-06 07:05 PM) |

Goldeen and Caterpie: Caterpie's is a little faster.
Golem and Koffing: Last time I checked (three minutes ago), their cries were so different that I'm confused at what you were thinking. Paras and Parasect/Mewtwo and Mew: Yes, but the pitch is very different. As you yourself mentioned earlier, it's just a similar pattern for Pokemon along the same evolution line. Mew and Mewtwo are not, but Mewtwo is a clone of Mew. Don't know why Mew's seems like the screwed up one, though. |

Right, right. The patterns are just similar. But I thought I would point it out for people to play around with and see for themself Also Golem and Koffing...Golem is a faster and shorter Koffing, I'd have thought it was easier to pick up ._.;; oh well!

Originally posted by Alastor the StylishAnd that people, is what I call elitism. And why I hate it when it goes that far... Yoronosuku: Didn't know that their noise is supposed to sound like their japanse name. Explains why it's like that in the TV-series now. Kind of funny how they used a real owl-cry in Pokémon Stadium II, but dosen't in Pokémon colleseum/XD. There they just use the GB cry. It's quite noticeable that Pokémon colleseum wasn't made by same people, since there was a few oddities in Colleseum, like pokémon who used fly stands in the middle of the air in the "inbetween" round (and they didn't do that in Stadium II, heh). |

Well, some of the cries are meant to reflect the Japanese name. Some do not.....Lapras is an example (La-pu-ra-su seems like it phoneticly fits but when you use Japanese pronounciation, its pronounced just like 'Lapras')
Stadium was made by the Gamfreak crew, yes Colloseum was made by a different company. The thing in that is that either Ichinose or Masuda (I think it was the second guy...) decided to redo the cries in a "realistic" style in the Stadium games. Notice? The sounds they make, are all similar to their GB cries But alot of things I did not like in the Stadium series. You changed color depnding on your Pokemon, ID number, nickname, and other insignificant factors. It conflicted with shiny colors, and actual shiny Pokemon came out weird. Colloseum uses the GBC cries, just like the advanced games did...and the GBA ones for the Hoenn Pokemon. The owl cry you meant is Noctowl, no? In japan, that Pokemon is known as Yoronosuku |

Originally posted by Yoronosuku I´ve always wondered where your username came from. I thought about asking you about it but I forgot. Have you guys noticed Jynx's and Hypno's cries. Jynx cry is slightly longer but they sound similar. Jynx's cry is more low-pitched, I guess. And the rythm is different. |

Jynx? It is the longest cry in the game...actualy nothing like Hypno's, except for maybe a similar enveloping and square duty data (this is getting sound-technical heavy now so I'll just shut up ) =| and I think it was you that asked what my name was in my newbie thread on the old board too^^

Man, Hypno is an awesome Pokemon. Him and Slowbro were ALWAYS on my team. I like Pokemon that can take damage, dish it out and use special attacks with good stat alterations.

I usually don´t like to have two pokemon of the same kind in my team.
And I´d probably pick Slowbro over Hypno. |

I'm a distinct loser... I don't think I've ever used a Psychic type besides Kadabra/Alakazam. Instead, I use Butterfree for its Psybeam. I like Butterfree, even if it is mostly useless... I suppose it's because I don't play the game competitively, just the in-game stuff.
(Hey... That link to the old topic... I remember that. I don't like being told I have an IQ below room temperature. But at least I found my old icon.) |
