The Strokes "Is This It" and "Room on Fire", are all I've been listening to lately. They're sound is original, I haven't heard many bands that sound like them. Their songs are so catchy to.. and dancey [=.. I blast The Strokes all ze time.

I'd also recommend ANY ALBUM by "The Shins". I discovred them off of the Garden State soundtrack, with "Caring is Creepy"... and the rest of their songs are just as good. They're reminiscent of bands from the 60's, with a touch of a modern feel to them. They basically stick to SIMPLE songs, which makes them amazing.

Simple music is the best. I hate bands who distort everything to the point where the basis of the song can't even be heard anymore.

Artist: Deftones
Album: B-Sides & Rarities
Song: Change (In the House of Flies) (Acoustic)

Okay, I know this song has been heard to death but it kick ass especially in acoustic. With the noise downplayed, I can really appreciate the vocals and lyrics. The version on White Pony is one of my favorite songs of the 90's and with this acoustic version, I can simply say that my love for the Deftones has grown a bit.

*Though their last album deftones sucked royally. I was not expecting the album to be that way.

Elliott Smith - Angeles

I'm not normally a big fan of these sorts of acts - but I've changed a lot and I really like the hopelessness exhibited in Elliot Smith's soft pop music.

If you like Elliot Smith, I'd recommend Ben Fold's Five and Bright Eyes. Ben Fold's Five forcuses more on the musical aspect of hopelessness (listen to "Brick"), with melodic piano lines, soft bass and drums and stirring vocals. Bright Eyes is more driven by poetry and Conor Oberst's voice than the guitars behind it.. some songs he's written are really really out there. I'd suggest "No Lies, Just Love" by Bright Eyes. Damien Rice is soft to, kind of reminds me of Elliot Smith in a way.. but his music kind of makes me want to sleep moreso than ponder to it.

Ytse Jam by Dream Theater

Simply awesome. It's instrumental, but not as long as their other songs. It's probably one of their best songs (and live it's even better). The solos are quite great too. Been into Dream Theater since awhile. (and seriously, even more when I watched "Live at Boudoukan".)

Eminem: When I'm Gone

This song is possibly the most emotional song by Eminem. Mainly, its about Marshall's daughter Hailey. Nice song, nice lyrics and since its Eminem, you gotta love it.

Fun fact: three sentences does not a paragraph make. At least they're descriptive sentences, thank you for small favors.

np: Rise Against: "Life Less Frightening"

Okay, so "Swing Life Away" was a steaming pile, but they had to come back with the ballad (kind of) for the second single to get the ladies. This song's much better, in the vein of "Give It All". Tim McIlvane can certainly non-throat scream with the best of 'em, that's fa sho. Great chorus, which wouldn't be nearly as interesting without the backing vocals. Which is funny, as they're just "liiiiiife lessssss friiiighteniiiiiiing", but there's some times where, for a good chorus, they're needed (here) and some where they're not (The Academy Is...: "Checkmarks"). Lyrically, 'tis all about how he just wants something that isn't nearly as unnerving, even though he can't place what's so sc-c-c-caaaawy.

Purity by Slipknot

No idea where the song came from cause it's not on my three album (I know there is more but I don't have them) and I found it on the internet somewhere so meh. The song is awesome, probably one of the only songs where you can actually here Sid play =/. But half of the song is taken from Despise, a demo they did when trying to get signed. It's still a good song. If someone could tell me what CD this song was on, if any, I'd be really happy

Krusty Toenail: It's a rare track. It appears Here

Artist: Elvis Presley
Album: Elvis: 30 #1 Hits
Song: Hound Dog

This is the first album and song I have heard of Elvis willingly. I just love it. In recent months I have been interested in going back and listening to old songs from the 50's/60's/70's and Elvis was a natural stop. Everytime I listen to it I feel compelled to shake my hips, dance and sing along.

That is how music should make me feel.

Listening to Chashme Mast Hai. By the great Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Yea, I'm tapping into my South Asian Islamic roots.(even if I'm not a Sufi, I can still like the music) It's Qawwali music,(an Islamic form of religious music that formed from the Hindu tradition of singing prayers) and I really love his work especially. It has a nice beat/flow. Fateh Ali Khan has a very impressive voice as well. He just goes on a nice roll sometimes. Ahh, brings me back to the days his music blasted in the tape deck of the 'ol cutlass ciera. Good times.

I listen to a bunch of stuff. I like HORSE the band, their R. Borlax CD kicks ass, I want their new Mechanical Hand CD, heard that was great. I also like Metallica a lot, their last CD wasn't too impressive but better than what others had thought of it, their next CD is supposed to come out the end of this year. I like a lot of Metal and Death Metal and Rock. Bands like, Black Dahlia Murder, Black Sabbath, Rob Zombie, Kiss, Ted Nugent, Aerosmith, As I Lay Dying, Iron Maiden, Diamond Head, theres a lot more but I can't think of any.

Did you even read the thread title?

Seriously.

Artist: Azul Azull
Album: El Sapo
Song: Loco/Celulitis* (Song changed halfway through post)

Spanish pop band. Their music and this CD is basically a fun album to listen to casually but not while traveling. It has that novelty/corny appeal to it. The song starts off with a spanish tempo but suddenly turns out metal and in the background you can hear soundeffects of someone taking a shit. Then the music cuts off for a second and you hear a woman say "Turn the music off!"

Second song, it is about the singer having a 'big' girlfriend and how he wishes was skinnier and starts singing about stuff she should do to lose weight. Eventually he says 'Liposuction' during the chorus. Like I said, silly album with silly songs.

Thoughtless: I know it's one 9.0 but this isn't the live version, it's a studio recorded track

Living Dead Beat -Children of Bodom

All I can say is I love it! I got their CD "Are you dead yet?" from Santa on Chistmas, Santa is a badass. I really like the intro, and the song is a great intro for the album. After getting this CD I've been trying to find all of their older stuff as well, "Follow the Reaper" and others. The solo is good, I like how they can mix keyboards and guitar within the solo! And they are pretty young too, can't wait to see what they can do in the future!

And err ! 100 posts =/

"Somebody's Watching Me" by Warmen

I discovered this band just today, and it's awesome.

Anyway, that song's vocals are by 'guest' artist Alexei Leiho (Children of Bodom). And the awesome keyboard is by Janne Warmen (Children of Bodom, and you guessed it Warmen is also his band). As for the song itself, it's quite catchy, and while two members of CoB are doing it, it's nothing like CoB (be it the vocals or the drums or the guitars).

Dream Theater - Voices

One of the best simpler melodies I've heard from DT, and vocals that mostly aren't too high to sing along. The mood goes from dark to much lighter, which I really like. I see this song as being about anxiety, causing confusion within a person's life. This song has odd connections to the other songs in Awake, like in the slow string melodies and the lyric "sex is dead, death is sex". Good song to play too, all instruments have some very dramatic moments.

Green Day: Letterbomb (I wonder how many times I've said Green Day in this thread.)

"Nobody likes you, everyone..." Perfect start though the actual song for the beginning isn't until two songs later. This song's about Whatsername writing a letter to St. Jimmy that she's leaving her town that night. I don't know the full meaning of this song but it's cool.

Do Nothing-Bitchslap by Slipknot

An old ass song, but I love it. It came off of the old MFKR album, back before Corey did vocals and Mick played guitar with them (and they only consisted of two drum sets). It starts off with Metal then moves into funk. Its just one of those songs that fun to listen to. And I must say original, never heard of any other Funk/Metal songs
